I'm thinking about replacing the weak horn, there's too much of a 'meep meep' sound and that drives me up the wall. Does anyone have sound clips of '09 Sentra and Altima horns? Do they sound any better and are they all plug 'n play? My dad's '97 Sentra stock horn sounds way better than the Versa.

I heard people with the Fit changed out their horn with the '08-'09 Accord low pitch horn and it sounds great. It was just plug 'n play too. I know someone on here changed it out but I want something that sounds better and not so cheesy.

Here's a sound clip of the '08 Accord horn on a Fit...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKAvFUYbQvk

How often do you use the horn?

I tend to think the more irritating the horn the better.

My horn sounds like s***. I got so much crap for it when I was driving my friends around lol. Could barely hear it after 50mph.

ok. from what i can tell you really want to mod your v, right? you keep bringing up all these dinky things you want to do. just dive in already. as far as i know the only thing that will void any warranty is the intake manifold (which is a rip-off anyways), so just do it.

I can totally relate with you guys. The first time I used my horn I was shocked cause it sounded so wimpy. I'm looking to upgrade in the future so I can honk and not feel like a little girl while doing it. Let me know how the install goes.

its right behind the grill. All u got to do is open the hood, pop off the litle plastic screws from the grill and the two from the CAI pull of the grill ull see 2 horns disconnect the wires, screw them off and put in the new ones the same way

Your friends criticize your horn.....really. And how often do you really need to use the horn when you are going 50mph?? Sorry but this just seems like the silliest mod I've ever heard of.

Another reason why I should of went with a Fit instead, less criticizing and more actions. Silliest mod?!?!The horn may be rarely used, but it's a safety feature! People need to be heard easily and better than the stock horn.

You've never been cut off on the highway before or had someone drift into your lane. I apologize. Is installing an upgraded safety feature really silly to you?

About a week after I got my V I nearly lost the front end when some foreign (I wont become racist, I wont become racist) couldnt grasp the concept that when 2 lanes turn left, you maintain your own lane. She came over on me, and I was laying on the horn. She heard nothing. This was at 10mph, imagine the problems that occur much faster at 55 or more. I changed my horn the next day, took about 5 minutes from start to finish.

Someone said something of 2 horns? I only saw one???

I agree that the horn is a little weak. But if you are using it almost everyday, then either you're overreacting to little things or you're not driving defensively at all.

The silliest mod I've ever heard of would be the versa header. At least the horn would show an improvement, not a faux-improvement. BTW, there's two horns, at least on my car, I have the ballasts for my headlights mounted on the backs of them. I wanted to upgrade my horns too, and I was thinking of buying a pair of Hella horns, I never got around to it.

I drove to Checker Auto Parts and bought the aftermarket horn. I'm gonna change it out when I get some time off Thursday. This is what it looks like...

I got the low tone horn, and it sounds just like the '08 Accord horn! I saved my receipt and will not open the package until I figure out if it will work. What did the stock horn look like Vahagn? Does it resemble a disc or more of a horn shape?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the horn people. The few times that I've had to use the horn it was heard just fine. The V horn is no different then pretty much every jappanese car on the market. Just giving my opinion that it is a silly mod.

According to the Versa Service Manual diagram, there are two horns, one for the alarm and one for the steering wheel. Guess i'll have to replace both of them unfortunately.

Once I get this accomplished, I'll take a picture of a DIY step-by-step picture of the process for all of you.

If one is for the steering wheel and the other for the alarm - why not just replace the one for the steering wheel? Unless somehow the beep when you double tap the lock key is too wimpy.

I'm going to change them both out. The alarm needs to have the same horn so it's audible further away than the stock horn.

How about a horn from one of those 1980s GMC vans? Not minivans, the big heavy ones.

Hey, I just realized that today is my NICOclub birthday. Yaa.

You should've gotten this one http://www.wolo-mfg.com/air.htm (first one on the page, price range $34-40 online). Griot's Garage sells one like it for about the same price. http://www.griotsgarage.com/pr...age=1 Same horn tone you'd find on exotics. Cuts through traffic and good wake-up call to other drivers.

Anything else, not worth the time.

I have the Groit's Garage one. Sounds a lot better when your outside the car than inside. Easy to install too.

I'd like to make a note that the 08+ models only have one horn. The alarm and the steering wheel share the same horn. The Nissan V Service Manual I downloaded is for the 07 model year.

I really thought I was losing my mind cuz I only replaced one horn. It worked for both locking beep and the horn. People on the forum were saying it was 2 horns and I just couldnt figure it out. Im glad im not crazy.

You can still wire up the two horns you bought in parallel. You will need to up-rate the horn fuse since the two will draw more power than the lone factory horn.

Oh and dual pitch horns are better because the higher pitch one cuts through noise better (highway, high speed), while the lower pitched one work better in other situations.
