Hey im looking into getting some carbon fiber pieces to put on my Z, in the proccess of looking for parts on the internet when i came across many of the aftermarket hoods they have slits in them and intake openings. Although this may seem like a stupid question what i was wondering is if i did get one of these hoods with openigs in it what if anything keeps water from simply going through the openings and into the engine? I live in seattle and this would become a big problem being that it rains lot here so anyone know if this is a problem or not, or have any information or thoughts on the subject?

There's really nothing you can do to prevent the water from going in other than not driving in it. If your that worried about water just get an oem style carbon fiber hood.

I've heard of one car that had a spark plug siezed due to water getting in one of those ricey slotted hoods, stick to oe or at least something that covers the engine completely

Your engine compartment should pretty much be protected against the environment. I think you'd be okay as long as your wiring isn't exposed in any particular area that could cause a short. Large volumes of water standing water could present a problem, so I'd avoid driving into any lakes.

That is the best looking hood I have seen so far!! Do you know if its available for the 07 that has a higher center section for clearance? I just looked at Vivids web site. The hood requires hood pins, cost is around 1600.00 for carbon and takes up to 90 days to get, special order. Not sure if I want to fool with the pins that are recommended.

No it's not available for the 07 due to the different hood. With any carbon fiber hood it's recommended to use hood pins. They defiantely help make the hood stay where it should. I recommend them.
