so i attempted to install a jensen headunit into my y33 and soldered all the wires together fine and made sure they're all right, thing is i have a few questions because everything seems to work except the speakers, not even a hiss. now the install kit had wires for amp power and amp ground and i remember hearing that the stock bose y33 system had a stock amp, but i can't seem to figure out what wires to splice into, or even if i need to splice wires into it. also the factory bose headunit had 3 white plugs in the back, and it seems that like 2 of them now have nothing to plug into, is that right? any help would be seriously appreciated as i have ZERO patience for anything electrical and am about ready to start setting things on fire.

Might try the stereo security Forum as they are a little more knowledgeable about third party sourced modifications.

If you keep the Bose amplifiers and speakers, I am pretty sure you will need a good adapter. Not all are.

You need a Bose adapter. Sosche makes them. Also, I wonder why you would pull the factory Clarion for a Jensen unit. I doubt very much that it will sound as good.

i only replaced it because half of the buttons are broken off, the volume knob doesen't work, and the skip track buttons don't work. the jensen i got for like $30 so i'm just gonna use it temporarily until i can afford a good in dash touch screen unit. thanks for the help guys, guess i'll be ordering that adaptor tonight.

I think that's your Q rejecting poor products. Q's don't take too kindly to Jensens and Duals and other cut rate bargain basement products. I think you may have insulted it.

You should go apologize.

Jensens have been coming up with some high quality products.

Maybe you could ditch the speaker amps or bypass it and wire it up directly to the speaker? if you havent done so already.

Jensen and Dual (Namsung) are on the upswing in terms of quality, but they still aren't on the level of Clarion, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc.

Anyway, let us know how it goes.

Well then. I stand corrected. Maybe I shouldn't let my personal prejudices affect my judgement.

Throw a McIntosh headunit and power meter module in there!

Jensen in a Q, is like an above ground swimming pool in the backyard of a mansion-

you guys are crazy lol. new jensen > 11yr old clarion. anyways it's only temporary anyway since the stock one was BROKEN. i mean i'm not gonna roll around with the factory broken clarion when i can have a pretty decent jensen deck i got for cheap in there until i can afford a good touchscreen dvd player.

Yeah, I had the same problem when upgrading my JVC head unit. Fet ready for this, if you want to keep your factory Bose speakers then u would have to wire your remote wire to the little amp built into the back of your speakers. To do that on the wire harness on the head unit, hook up the blue wire to the blue wire on your wire harness adapter. Not the blue with white stripe, thats the power antenna! To get the best sound, upgrade your speakers : 6x9 rear deck, 4 in front doors. I put 6.5 in mines with small fabrication, remove all Bose products!!! Bose is good, but only if its a 2008 model. Old Bose stuff I hate cuz its so stone age, to me its not worth repairing. The only pain in the *** is rewiring all 4 speakers to the head unit. Thats a *****, but its well worth it after u done it. I hated the Bose in my ride so I strip out everything and replaced it with after market stuff. I got a good pair of 6x9 from Walmart for about 90 bucks. Then got the same brand 6.5 in for the front for about 75 bucks. Speakers are called HD Audio, 6x9 hold 450 watts max= 225 watts RMS. 6.5 in hold 300 watts= 150 watts RMS. Thats perfect for my amp. I got a 4 channel 300 watt ampto my 6x9 and 6.5 in the doors. My advice...... do away with the Bose unless you got a new model.

I've been thinking of doing 6x9's all around. Where did you mount the amp? That's my trouble. I don't know where to put it.

I'm using the Bose system with a subwoofer in the back... have the bass turned to the lowest and the sound is great... better than a lot of my friends custom setups.
