I'm new to the forums so this may have been discussed a while ago but can anyone give me some advice on an aftermarket head unit to replace the 6-disc changer in my 09 Altima sedan.

I have the Nav package with Bose stereo and would like to add an aftermarket unit to integrate iPod and other Mp3 players without using the AUX jack while still retaining my steering wheel controls, is this even an option?

Thanks

First, welcome to NICO.

Second, tell us a bit more about what features you'd be looking for (besides iPod integration). DVDs, navigation, etc?

Also, if you have the Nav package, it isn't entirely cost effective to be swapping out the head unit. Additionally, the Bose HU and amp/speakers are tuned for each other. Replacing only the head unit but leaving everything else alone will probably result in degraded sound quality.

Also, it is possible to retain steering wheel controls, but not the bluetooth phone stuff.

Thanks for the welcome!

I probably should have phrased my questions a little differently. I have the Navigation package and would like to keep the factory Bose head unit and nav system.

I’m looking for some way to add and control an iPod and/or USB port with the steering wheel controls. I don’t really need the multi disc function but would like to have to play at least one disc. Is it possible to swap the changer for a different changer or head unit and keep the steering wheel controls and Bluetooth phone stuff?

I know it’s a long shot to find something that would integrate with the current system but I thought I’d ask the experts.

Thanks for the help

Ahh, I see now. There are a number of members that have been hoping for iPod integration with the stock navigation, but at this time there is no way to do it.

That's what I'm finding out.

Do you know if anyone has swapped out the 6-disc changer for an aftermarket head unit and played it through the CD setting on the factory Bose?

Thanks

I would need to take a closer look at the service manual for the back of the nav unit. This may be possible, but I am kind of doubting it right now. Let me get back to you...
