Im in the process of replacing my factory (non Bose) headunit... and have a few questions i couldnt find answers to.

1. Do i need a harness?2. Do i need a antenna adapter?

and is it simply plug and play if i do get a harness? I also want dvd capabilities while driving.... thanks.

For a proper install, you should use a matching harness. It avoids cutting up and splicing the factory harness. Then, the only other connection you need to make is chassis ground. Now for DVD units, it's a bit more complicated as you need the speed sensor wire... see below.

Nissan does not use the old Motorola style antenna connector, you need an adapter. These are readily available.

Quote » I also want dvd capabilities while driving.... thanks.[/quote]Almost all aftermarket head units with DVD capabilities require a speed sensor connection. With the speed sensor wire in place, DVD playback will be disabled as soon as the car starts to move. On some models, it's possible to bypass this feature. You will have to carefully research the head unit you are interested in and see if there is a way to bypass it.

Getting to the speed sensor wiring involves some work. There is great write up on how to do this with the Pioneer AVIC-DX3:

If you figure out how to bypass the speed sensor, you can avoid pulling the dash apart to get at the wiring.

Thanks for the quick reply and the great information.

Regarding the speed sensor, I was hoping there would be a fix for bypassing this like wiring it to somethign else to "trick" the head unit.

Thanks again.

Some units are more easily bypassed than others. It can be as simple as grounding the speed sensor wire. Some careful research... will be able to tell you if it's possible.
