first and foremost I'm a noob to the forums so if this question has been asked already I will apologize now for asking a question that has been already answered. I have a 2010 with the Bose stereo package, I will admit it sounds OK but it lacks the controls that aftermarket stereos have and the options. I already know that I'm going to need some parts to get it installed just to get everything working like it was factory. here is a parts list that I have so far except for the stereo,

Metra ASWC for the steering wheel control
Metra 95-7425 for the dash kit
Metra 70-7553 for the wire harness
Metra 40-NI12 for the antenna adapter

Now comes my two question, first is how is the factory bluetooth mic wired and can an aftermarket radio with bluetooth be wired to the factory mic in the overhead console and the second question is what are some good recommendations for an aftermarket stereo? The more important features to me are Nav and bluetooth, DVD is the least of the features that I want.

The factory BOSE system uses outboard amps located in the trunk. Simply 'plugging' it in may not yield very good results in terms of audio quality. Ideally you need to add a 4 channel line-level converter to the head units line outputs to match the balanced line inputs on the BOSE amps:

The handsfree/bluetooth is connected to a special module that then connects to the radio. If you remove the headunit, you will lose it. You would have to remove the module and splice the wiring for the mic. You can find wiring diagrams here (see AV section):

I have had good luck with Clarion units. But I am not an expert.

Swapping the head unit on a factory BOSE system is not the simplest job. You may want to look at having a reputable shop do this for you. They will have the expertise and equipment to do it correctly.
