Hi, I have recently bought a 2009 Murano without the navigation system, but I do have audio and video inputs for my in dash screen. I was researching aftermarket GPS systems and found the GVN 53 from Garmin that seems to be perfect for what I need.

Does anyone know of a good place in Los Angeles that could professionally install it for me?And if someone knows of a different GPS device that is better please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi,Just curious to know if this Garmin worked for you? I just bought the same unit for my '09 LE from compuplus.com for $429.00 including shipping, which beats the heck out of the $1800.00 that Nissan charges for navigation. If the unit was compatible with the video screen, does the touch screen funtionality work also? I read that it would because of a some serial interface, but the Garmin's owners manual doesn't mention anything other than remote control usage. I hope you enjoy you new ride. This is our second Murano; we also have an '04 SL and and Infiniti G35 coupe. We love our Nissans. Thanks

Greetings to both of you! Welcome to NICOclub, and more specifically, the Murano forum! We hope you find the site entertaining and informative.

You DO NOT want to use the Audio Video inputs for the Navigation. The reason is you ARE NOT able to view this video while the vehicle is in motion. Kind of sucks, I know, but it is a safety thing. It is possible there is a way to override this, I know it has been done in the '08/'09 Armada (same navigation and AV set-up). I would suggest consulting a professional on whether or not there is a way to use the existing screen. I purchased my LE with the Navigation, so I am good, but I will be interested in seeing if there is a way to watch video from the AUX inputs while the vehicle is motion, and I think that is only a matter of time before that happens.
