Well I've been searching the archives for aftermarket flywheel reviews. There seem to be many mixed opinions about getting one. I'm going to put a new clutch in soon, Spec Stage II, and am wondering if it is really worth it to spend $300 or so for a lightened flywheel. I know you have to resurface the stock flywheel if you don't get an aftermarket, how much would that be usually? Basically this would be for a stock KA with a few bolt ons, maybe nitrous if I feel like it, and in a year going turbo. Mostly though it would be a daily driver. I am kind of on a tight budget, so I'm just wondering if the lightened flywheels are worth buying while installing a new clutch. thanks all

well usually a lightened flywheel allows u to rev slightly higher and faster.

you will lose some power when beginning to accelerate because you will have less rotational intertia.

IMHO, daily driver + low budget = save ur pennies for the turbo set up! there will always be extra things you wind up buying with a turbo setup, better to not botch up the install.

There are mixed reviews about it all over the place. I don't think it's a good idea for a KA, as the KA is better suited to low-revs. Re-machining your current flywheel is about $45.
