Aftermarket EX muffler/exhaust?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have a EX and my opinion is the exhaust note needs to be a tad more aggressive, of course not Nascar loud, but just to let you know there is 295hp up there.

We also have a FX35, and yes those have a great exhaust note similarly tuned to the Z350's and the G37 Coupes have. Does anyone know of an aftermarket muffler that would work, or if you hear about one please post it? I checked the exhaust layout and compared to the Murano, Z350 and others but cannot find a match. On the EX it appears that each pipe comes from the left/ right engine manifold and individually enters the muffler, unlike the FX35 and Murano where they enter as a 2 into 1 then into the muffler.

Let me know if you find anything that sounds nice n agressive. I had a Techtonics exhaust on my Touareg (mfg'd w/ Borla cans) and it sounded incredible!

From what I hear the EX35 is tuned differently from the other infinitis that have that great exhaust noise...i was a little disappointed when i got mine and it did not make the same exhaust noise...interested if there is something that can change this...

I am actually glad that it does not have any noticeable exhaust tone. I had an aftermarket exhaust along with a CAI on my 2005 Maxima, at first I loved the sound, but soon grew wary of it.

I'd prefer if the car sounded like the FX/G/350Z. That exhaust note is distictive but doesnt appear to have a drone on the highway.

If a catback system came out with from infiniti or the aftermarket I'd gladly purchase it.

Will it void the warranty? I was going to install the cold air intake filters; but I heard it will void the warranty.

Having aftermarket parts by itself does not void your warranty. If a problem arises after an aftermarket part has been installed, the dealer will have to prove that the modification caused the problem before refusing to honor your warranty claim.

+1 . . .

I think changing the muffler should give you a different exhaust note so that's why I am hunting for the G37 Coupe muffler. Apparently the mufflers look similar in both G37 Coupe and EX service manuals and diagrams so maybe can give it a try

I take my comment back. I took my car in for the fuel pump replacement and received a g35x as a loaner...WOW!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the 50 + miles that I drove in that car. The exhaust tone of the G35 is perfect.

I'm not 100% sure - but I heard from a friend that the midpipe is what made the note change from the G and the EX

That would be my bet, the mid pipe (resonator) is really long. I haven't compared it to a G35 but would bet they are different.
