i say why buy off of ebay when you can buy from one of our sponsors for the almost the same price. (and probably less after a discount)

http://www.turbo240.com

i also have to wonder about the picture that they are using for the steel driveshaft on ebay. looks a lot like the one on AMS's website.

i am going to get a steel one eventually. i am trying to decide if i want to go ahead a dish out the money for it to install it when i install my HKS GD Pro Twin Plate Clutch or wait until its a little less of a fiscal burden.

I haven;t decided who to buy from

other than the price, what is the bad thing about aluminum?

my main concern is the noise/vibration that I hear so much about

I plan to install it same time as my flywheel... when I find one, that is

thats the thing, i really don't see why it would matter so much and i would be willing to bet that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the 2.

my experiences with metalworking however, say that steel is better. however, just as speculation, i would guess the only really benefit to aluminum would be that it will flex and twist a bit more than steel would before it breaks. but i would wonder if steels strength over aluminum would counter aluminums resilience or if the HP you would have to be generating to even make that an issue is probably well above what any of us would be putting out.

Aries blew out a few aluminum driveshafts before switching to carbon I believe. Might want to check how much power he was making when the Al driveshafts failed on him.

He never broke an aluminum driveshaft and he wasn't putting out enough power to break a driveshaft.

Thats about all I'm going to say on that.

Go with aluminum, save the weight and reduce the drivetrain shock. The only issue with aluminum is the critical speed of the shaft. I don't have any numbers on the diameter and length of the shaft so I can't comment further on that.

Typically the critical speed is designed to be well above normal operation speeds (ie. 150 MPH). The issue becomes that you will get more vibration as you near the critical speed.

The aluminum shaft is better harmonically than steel from a materials standpoint.

They sell aluminum shafts.

ACPT sells carbon shafts for the S13 / S14 and I believe is whom Nissan Motorsports and NISMO contracted to build the carbon shafts for the race cars back in the day. However you will find that the carbon shafts are about $890 - 950 for the 240SX.
