Hi,

I have a 1992 240SX coupe with an SR20DET ready to go into it. I have a turbo + elbow, but no downpipe. So I'm looking at the Blitz 3" stainless downpipe.

Does the downpipe bolt to the elbow or replace it? If the elbow is kept, is it a big restriction? On the MR2 most people try to eliminate the elbow for this reason...

Also, will the downpipe bolt up to my stock catalytic converter? (USDM car here)

Thanks,Mike

Downpipe bolts to the stock cat, and to the turbo dump pipe, or elbow as you call it. It has a trianglier 3 bolt pattern to match dump pipe on one side and a 2 bolt oval on the other to match test pipe or cat. You can usually find a downpipe and high flow cat/test pipe online as a package.

What he said. Plus, if you can afford it I would replace the stock elbow with one such as the Greddy(only one known to NEVER have any fitment problems) or something similair. The stock one is pretty restrictive and will be a pain to switch out once the motor is in. Either way, the downpipe you buy will bolt to it.

Definitely get the elbow at the same time. The stock one is ridiculously restrictive. I just got my Megan elbow/downpipe combo off ebay for $130+shipping and they fit great, no clearance issues.

Can anyone point me at a retailer selling an elbow? I have only found one so far, it's $135 for a stainless elbow. It looks nice but seems pricey for such a small part.

Thanks,Mike

The stock unit is not that restrictive.

This is the Tomei unit on a 325whp SR Engine (go figure right? LOL). I'd imagine on a 240whp stock turbo engine you might see 1-3whp tops. The restriction is all in the turbocharger, not in the 02 housing with SR's.

blitz dp sits really freaking low.

if you want to SLAM your car like mine is now (rudee knows) you'll freaking scrape that chit everyday over driveway, speedbumps, etc.

but other than that, it's nice.

Sorry, can't help you. I just plugged up the hole because I have a Microtech ECU and didn't need the O2 sensor. However, you can do a search on freshalloy.com, I've seen a few recent posts on this subject.

Wow, I'm surprised to see the difference is so small. However, I still have my doubts about the stock elbow. Just looking at it, it looks like it tapers down to around 2" at one point. But you're right, on a T25 SR it wouldn't be much of a restriction. So I guess the only logical thing to do is get an aftermarket O2 housing WITH a bigger turbo at the same time.
