I have infinity kappa's all around, I have bought the double din kit and the DVD/NAV is on the way. The questions is, do I just use a simple conversion harness and run the power though the factory amp and sub or run new wires to the kappa's? Right now, the kappa's are just highlighting the crappy sound of the factory system but is the weakest link the amp or just the head unit? Will a 50w X 4 head unit be enough to sufficiently power 4 speakers? (I am a sound quality guy, not volume...)

If it were summer I would go ahead and re-wire but it is winter in WI and fricken cold! Has anyone kept the factory amp with a different head unit and speakers?

Rewire would always be the best. In my Maxima I did use the factory wires without any issue.

For a wiring diagram you can consult the FSM: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35

If you decipher the wiring, please make note of it here for others to use later.

Did you still run through a factory amp?

I don't own the Maxima anymore. No, I simply used the factory wires when I replaced the front door speakers.

if ur getting a nice double din/wit nav or whatever, just unhook the factory amp, and get a decent amp and use a amp kit n just rewire and put it to the new amp, u might as well..cuz if u do just use the old wire thats left to the fac. amp..it'll probably sound like crap...maybe it wont but sometimes the ohms' ratings will conflict..so your best bet is rip open the front 2 doors, pop em in connect the speakers n playem..n see how u like it..if not just wait til summer or warm spring n re-wire.
