Has anyone used/purchased an aftermarket code scout/scanner to pull codes on their J30 and to clear stored codes? If so what make/model? I want to put my interior back together once and for all.

Would an Autoxray Code Scout 2500 do the job? Thanks!

Both of those for OBD 2 you have a 1993 which is OBD 1 so you need a consult cable.

You can get one for $130 and do more than check the codes you can try E-mance or Blazt.

Does the connector simply not fit the one under the dash or is it wired incorrectly?

Toyota MR2s simply require jumpering two terminals on a connector to the ECM to display codes and the ECM is in the trunk.

Close your eyes and feel the codes...?

It fits but its simply molex pins sticking out.you have to carefully line them up.Im on the search for the proper shell so I can pin it out and have a solid connection.

tps was at .45 and the power balance test was not pretty.Got some diags in my near future.3 cylinders had a much less rpm drop than the others. All in all This e-mance package drape is selling is pretty dang good !!

If the target spec is 10 deg BTC, 15 is off, but I honestly don't recall what the spec is and all of the specific conditions for checking the timing.

Can you share the details of this E-mance package and does it include all of the necessary cables? It connects the ECM via a driver's side connector to a PC serial port?

Wait you got that adapter for $28 while he charged me $44 and he said that was the discount.

And did he tell this software was his: http://www.geocities.com/obdsc...d.htm because he just stole it from the guy that has this site.

No No No ..He sold the board and cable for 44.00 The USB to serial adapter I bought was 28 shipped. And that's not where I downloaded the software and dont care to get involved with a software copy right situation. Although its very similar to the calumsult software, and it seems Calum considered this freeware. Jason seems like a good guy to me.And knows his stuff.

he has a racing team by the way.

Pretty simple actually.Find out what comm port your computer see's as the USB adapter.Set that as the comm port in the software. Then click ECU finder. Not sure what version it is.Just named Emance consult.

I have a handheld Codescout which I picked up at a NAPA retailler awhile back. Works well on the Acura and Saab. Never bothered trying it on the Infiniti, I'd rather just read the ECU.

since were on this topic, anyone on here have an iphone or ipod touch and checked out the program called rev lite??? on their site, they say you can get a 802.11 wifi adapter that will connect to your ODB II port, and it allows the iphone/itouch to communicate with the ECU, and give you readouts and important crap like that... however, on their site, they didnt list any specific devices to purchase that are compatiable. anyone know if theres any devices that will connect to a '95 j30's ecu, that will give it wifi posibilities???

OK, I've got a light grey connector that's located just above the brake pedal and connected to the same bracket as the door lock timer. I'm using a $14 USB to serial port adapter cable and need to ID the comm port.

In terms of interior disassembly it's probably easier to access the ECM than it is the Consult connector and so far nothing is detected, but I got a late start this afternoon.

Any other hints/suggestions?

Thanks!

It looks like things should work with it set up to access COM 8 via the USB cable.
