Am not happy with the setup of our interior mid front section + I would like a digital USB connection instead of AUX.

I'm thinking of changing the radio with an aftermarket head unit. I assume a wide screen unit would work best , as the console piece will need to be cut in certain places. Which unit do you like and would you recommend ?

DAAN, The majority of the folks here have gone the aftermarket nav route with happy results.

i bought the pioneer f700bt and installed it too. I am very happy with it and with the new oem dash it looks great, i would recommend it.

What's a wide screen radio?

If you don't have the Nav package in your car I'd go with the aftermarket Nav unit. It would look cleaner and I can't see it performing worse than a wide screen radio in any way.

Thank you all for the assistance. Much appreciated, the dash kit links helped ! The Kenwood is an amazing piece of technology, but the pioneer F700BT has been my choice.

Stupid indeed. The Tech. package is def not the best $2,000 I've spent my money on. If I had known what I know now, I'd of gone with an aftermarket Navi instead of spending my money on this "stock" and "simple" package as previously stated.

The only good thing worth mentioning about the Tech Package is the Backup Camera, which I absolutely LOVE. Living in NYC and having to parallel park pretty much everywhere I go, it's the best companion for squeezing into those tight spots and worrying if I have enough room in the back. But even the backup camera you can get aftermarket.

More on the "stock" Navi... the GPS stinks, the turns come faster than you think, the Arrow representing your car on the screen is not very accurate. The directions on my Cellphone's GPS are usually better, plus when my cellphone speaks about the next "turn" it actually says the street name, not "turn right" like the Nissan GPS does. I have to look on my screen to see what street I'm turning on which is rather annoying. Lastly, there is no DVD playback like most aftermarket Navis have. Not even when you're in park. This could have come in handly the many times I've had to wait for my GF when picking her up somewhere double parked outside for 10-30 mins.

If I had to choose all over again, I'd of saved the 2g's and put it towards a Pioneer AVIC D3....

this is actually what i'm planning on going with in a couple weeks when i get my income tax cashola in:

Pioneer AVIC-F90BT

i'm going to buy it off ebay and grab some stuff like the dash kit, wiring harness, and antennae adapter from installer.com. you can find the dash kit you need there for $40. then i'll purchase the backup camera for later install.

also keep in mind that when you buy a navi or dvd player or both that you will need to get the drive and play (or watever its called) disabled by either a switch or software you can find online. this lets you watch movies and use your navi while you are driving.

if your tech savvy (as in a programmer or IT person) the avic is a great unit, very fun to hack/customize.

if youre not tech savvy, go with the kenwood that docs sportin, def one of the sickest units out there for the $$ imo

im a comp/software engineer and love my avic now that they fixed the serious bugs, it offers so much customization if you can navigate the internal code of the unit =)
