For you guys trying to save a buck, I understand you. But when it's something as critical as a piston, the difference of $50-$80 is not worth the headache you'll get if you don't make a wise decision. I personally have wieco pistons in my built engine, but again, they are modified and I recommend against you guys doing that. For most of you, you shouldn't be screwing with the pistons anyway if nothing is wrong with yours. If you're not expecting to exceed 500whp, leave the stockers alone unless you've worn-out your bores and then they'll need to be re-bored. If you guys don't pay attention to the advice being given, you'll get frustrated and you too will be selling your stuff to a low-baller. CP pistons for you high HP dreamers and for you guys that just want to clean-up your engine, re-ring, hone, clean and re-install the stockers.

So wiseco just made the pistons wrong and they have to be modded to work correctly with the oil squirters, right? That answer might help people to not get them if they know the reason not to get them, but if I remember correctly from reading too many posts while I sit at work all day it was an oil squirting in the wrong place not cooling right thing... and if that is true then the CP pistons are shaped correctly? just making sure people are clear on it, that is saying that they read this though, sometimes I wonder if some of the people that post can really read....

They didn't necessarily make them wrong, they made them for the N/A FWD CA18 which did not have oil squirters.

the reason i plan on going aftermarket pistons and rods are because i like to keep my options open, and if im going to tear into the engine, i mind as well replace the pistons and such with **** i know will last. while the reliability is good on the OEM internals, can you blame a person for going forged? im shooting for 350whp - 400whp, but after that, who knows what i'll want to do with it?

my **** had a blown head gasket and the cylinder was rust pitted, and 3 pistons have cracked ringlands.. so yea i was up ****s creek without a paddle.so i went cp and 84mm bore to get me going. stock rods with arp bolts. that setup should be fine for up to 500 reliable with the right tune.. i wouldnt trust the rods past 500whp. the most this engine will probably see is 350whp.. i just hope i dont have any problems.. im investing alot of moeny into this and hate to have something go wrong .... so well see

So would now be the wrong time to state that with uprated pistons, you really don't need oil squirters until you get to extremes?
