Hi All,My friend just bought a 2010 Nissan Rogue SL without the 360 package. She currently has some issue with backing up because she can't see very well. So I've help to do some research. So far, I've found that there are 2 ways to improved: 1) backup sensor which requires drilling in the bumper because it doesn't have the holes already, 2) wireless backup rear view camera (like this one http://4ucam.com/Wireless-Back....html).Does anyone have any experience with this 4ucam? If you do, where is the best place to put the LCD (currently, I am thinking to put right below the temperature control) and how to best connect to the power supply to turn on only during backup? TIA!

The reverse light wire and ground are clearly identified in this thread: zer...npics

I just finished installing a backup sensor in my new Rogue thanks to the excellent instructions in that thread. It's not difficult at all (the most difficult part was building up the courage to remove the bumper and drill the holes). It only takes a couple of hours, and you don't need any special tools.

Here is the sensor I installed ($30 shipping included): http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10283) They are also available in gray. If your car is a different color, you will have to paint them.

Hi,

I may have a third solution for you: Back up sensor but without any drilling (but you will have to remove the bumper to install it). No drilling for the whole system, just remove the bumper and the interior driver side of the cargo area to pass the wiring and connect it to the back up light wire.

Here is the link to the manufacturer: http://roadmasterusa.com/product.php?p=VRPS100You may want to google it to see if you find a better price somewhere else.

I have this system on my car for one year and a half and the only problem I have with this system is it sometimes doesn't work when it rains a lot or when it snows. But seeing your location, I told myself it could be interesting for you.

The good thing is that it beeps continuously when you are at 2 inches from the obstacle (alternate beeps from about 1 foot) and not 1 foot, so you can use all the space you are allowed to use. I never saw the interest of a system which tells you you are 1 or 2 feet from an obstacle.

You connect it like the camera systems on the back up lights wiring to only be on when you put the car in Back up gear. It will beep once to let you know that the system is on.

One more thing if you want this system: put some foam on the speaker you will install in the cargo area: it is quite load.

Thanks roadside for your reply. I did see the post, but it seems to require a lot of work and drilling (which my friend doesn't want).

Thanks Pescakl1. Your solution is an interesting one. I will check to see if my friend is interested to do that. I checked on amazon and it has negative review. I'll search more I guess.

I just bought a license plate camera. http://www.amazon.com/VTL351-U...r=8-1

It is pretty discreet and easy to install. I just installed it on top of my license plate using the existing regular screws. The package comes with theft-resistant hex bolts but it requires extra work on my part. The wire goes to where the license plate lamp is located and can then be routed to inside by popping out the tiny window from the inside. I will post pics once I have completed the install. I haven't plugged it in to my AVN.

No drilling and doing it again, I can complete the whole install in about 1 hour or less.

All cars have a blind spot, and when backing out of a parking spot, something in this blind spot could be hit. Such a scenario has been tragically repeated when small children stand behind a car as it is backed out of a garage. The solution to this is a parking sensor. These increase your field of vision by detecting if there is something behind your car which you might hit backing out. The installation is simple, and it can take just one hour to do from start to finish.
Step 1
Measure the center of your bumper with the measuring tape and mark it with the grease pencil.
Step 2
Measure and mark two places between 12" and 24" to the left and right of the center of the bumper. These will be where the sensors will be mounted. The sensors need to be between 18" - 30" off the ground. It is best to put the sensors 24" off the ground.
Step 3
Drag the plug with the display panel to where you want to mount the display panel. Attach the panel with the included double sided tape.
Step 4
Look for holes made in your car that feed the wires from the lights into the rear of your car or the trunk. Fish the sensor wires through these holes. Enlarge the hole and line the edges with Zinc Galvanize if needed.
Step 5
Place a piece of electrical tape over the spots marked with the grease pencil on the bumper for the sensors. Use the specialty drill bit included with the parking sensor kit to drill holes at these sites. Remove rough edges with a drill buffing bit and coat the edges of the holes with Zinc Galvanize if the bumper is metal.
Step 6
Push the sensors from the back of the bumper until they are flush with the front.
Step 7
Plug the wires from the display, sensors, and the power supply into the control box. Test the unit according to your manufacturer's instructions.
Step 8
Choose a site to mount the control box, and attach it there with the double sided tape included.

Your dealer should be able to install the same camera that comes with the 360 if you ask.

The camera is listed on the accessories page here:
http://www.nissanusa.com/rogue/accessories.html
(Just hit "Show All" at the top, and look for the "In-mirror Rear View Monitor")
It has a list price of $525, but I had it included at time of purchase of my new 2010 Rogue for 650$ (installed).
Note: It's paid for, but currently on back order. Once they have it, I'll schedule an appt. with service to have it done.

Instructions for SELF install (looks really rough tho) can be found here:
http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/TSB/TSB_ ... tsbType=AI
(you may need to register for a login (?), then go to Rogue -> 2010 -> EL:Electrical -> EL: In-mirror RearView Monitor_Rogue_999Q6 VV000 )
It's in PDF format.

Advanced auto parts has a great deal during this labor day holiday. Rear view parking camera + monitor (Wireless) for 59.99 and if you buy online, you can use "LABOR" promo code to get 10% off. So it becomes 47.99. I think it's a good deal. I am just not too happy to drill a hole on my brand new Rogue...so might wait till next year :naughty:

Factory Camera purchased and installed via the dealer. Looks and works great. Def. worth it, if the camera is one of the options you really wanted on your Rogue... but wanted options from other packages as well (such as the ability to play MP3 disks, intelli keyless system, etc.). I didn't post a reply sooner, because I had actually intended in including pictures.. but not sure what the point would be, just look at a 360.. it's exactly the same :P

Anyway, hope this is helpful.
