Aftermarket alarms

Have any of you had any issues with after-market alarms? Or are there any recommended ones for the 08 coupe? The factory anti-theft/Intelligent Key system just doesn't cut it for me but I don't want to have to carry around 2 fobs in my pocket all the time

I wouldn't need the pager system because my parking spot at home and at work is only 30 feet away in most cases and at max I am still always in audible range. I also wouldn't want remote start capabilities.

I have never had a car with a built-in security system before so I am not sure what can and can't be done easily. Not looking to spend more than $750-800 though - I don't need anything fancy - really just need the deterrent factor that the stock security system doesn't give..

edit: Forgot to mention I would prefer to avoid a solution that requires leaving an Intelligent Key in the car at all times.
