thanks!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the Rogue already comes with a factory-alarm (freaks the heck out if you attempt to force the doors without a key present, for example) and an engine immobilization system for if somebody tries to start the car without a key.

Unless you're looking at a system that offers more than that, I'd say it was a waste of money.

You are correct. All Rogues are equipped with a security system and immobilizer system. The security system monitors all door switches (including hatch). The immobilizer consists of a uniquely coded key that is registered to the vehicle. Without it, it won't start.

Of course, you could always improve on things... like add an aftermarket alarm system with vibration, ultrasonic/microwave detection sensors, remote alarming, and maybe a hood switch (the stock system does not have one).

Then again, most people ignore car alarms nowadays and any skilled thief can disarm these systems. IMHO, the biggest risk is from people who want to steal your vehicle for a joyride. With the immobilizer key your covered.

so what happens when you try to open a locked door? I have tried this and nothing has happened.

I also sat in the car, hit the lock button on the key control, and then opened the door from the inside, and nothing has happened.. but maybe that was because the system was disarmed when i unlocked the door from the inside?? i dont know

I thought the non passive alarm was an extra option.sounds like i need to read thru the owners manual again..

my main reason for getting an alarm is for when i am at home at night

EDIT: Thanks guys.. I realized I didn't wait until the security light started blinking before opening the door from the inside.. it works
