Anyone know how to install an aftermark Tach? I did the SR20det s13 swap into a SOHC KA. I know that a DOHC cluster would work but I wanna try putting an aftermark Tach instead. I tried wiring the signal wire to the ECU tach. wire but that didn't work. I also tired wiring the signal wire from the tach. to the neg. wire on my number 1 coil and that didn't work either. Anyone out there know what to do?

FSM=Factory service manual

to put an aftermarket tach in my DOHC, i tapped into the existing cluster wire. the wire still had to be connected to the gauge cluster though or it wouldn't work.

reason for upgrade? stock tach only goes up to 8k and doesn't have a shift light :D

So pretty much sounds like I have to get the DOHC cluster away

dohc tachometer, you don't need the full cluster.
