Overall the event was very entertaining. However something’s just felt very different this year. For one ... I thought the sponsors sucked, not enough shwag. Also there weren’t that many vendors, as from what I've seen in the past. The VIP tickets truly sucked, when you pay $20 on top of normal admission you would expect some sort of VIP treatment. Instead the VIP seating got changed from the wire wall on the grass to the track with grandstand seating (which by the way was placed behind the judge’s booth blocking almost everything). I would like to also say that the new crowds that D1 pulls in get more immature and disrespectful every year. Eerg venting.... Like I said before the drifting was phenomenal and everything else sucked.

I didn't go but 2/27/05 D1 in LA was the first time for my friend. He said it was hella dope and its different when its in real life and he can't explain it. I guessing you go to D1 plenty of times. I'm hoping to go next year. I hear only good things about D1 this is the first bad comment and i don't hate you for it. Its all good. Just curious about the crowd your talking about, what do you mean they get more immature. Isn't that all you can do? sit, watch, yell, yada yada?

I forgot....anybody got PICTURES on D1 they can post up or anything?

When I am talking about the disrespectful crowd, I specifically mean the booing. Now I understand that D1 is a sport/entertainment but if half the people would even recognize the fact of how much time effort and money was spent into qualifying for D1 they would not boo, especially the American drivers. That's just straight up disrespectful and unacceptable. Also individuals in the grand stands were throwing full cups of soda into the crowd.....what the hell is this about!!! I'll try to post up my pics and vids of the event in the next couple of days.

I went to D1 at Irwindale and have a few things to say:

What I Liked:1. Fantastic Drifting by all competitors.

What I did NOT like:

1. the presale line for tickets took longer than buying at the gate.2. not being allowed to bring food in no matter how small was dumb.3. you could not hear the commentary on the stands side closest to parking lot until the last round4. the random security involved uprisings in the stands by idiots who got kicked out5. not long enough, last year it lasted all day and the last few rounds took place at night which was awesome i.e. ended at like 3:00 pm this time6. tiny vendor area compared to last time.7. extremely limited acces to actual cars and pits last year i walked all around the huge sponsor trucks and met many people the whole time last year not just for 45 min. like this year8. stupid vip, not on the grass as well as when I tried to get a good pic by standing on the catch fence barrier i.e. 3 ft high concrete cuz the little un obscured section was soo packed I got threatend with being kicked out.9. over all show quality not as good as last year, seemed very rushed, last year intros were a good 1 hour when drivers came out and did huge burnouts and donuts and such. and wild antics from the benihana viper and craziness all day last year10. just an overall big brother is watching, up-tight feeling all day.

My biggest complaint was thatt ghetto a** anouncer in the begining. Yeah maybe at H.I.N. he would of been cool, but there. The whole crowd was ignoring him which i thought was great!! I dont know his name but the guy from Apex started talking then the crowd got involved. As for the show... yeah The VIP sucked big time... the car show...wait there was a car show? And as for the competition Vert very very short. Last year was incredible. this year started off really well. untill they did the the best 16 after that it seemed like they rushed it. like they wanted toget the hell out of the U.S. or someth'n. It sucked that there was only 3 U.S. drivers. LAst year there way more. Alex Phifer needs to get his AE86 back. that S2000 was weak(well at least i thought) And i think Rhys Millen got robbed! i personally thought he beat Kazamaa, well i need to shut up now

Rhys did pretty well. Although I think kazama did beat him out. Kazama was starting his drifts a lot earlier than Rhys. It was really gay how people started throwing drinks and stuffd, especially at tarzan. WTF was that all about? Tarzan did fly the TouePirate team paper airplane though. that was cool. I also got Taniguchi to sign my HKS S15 mini model. It is in my car on display, lol.

Here's what I saw, Tarzan climbs post throws a huge paper airplane. Crowd start throwing things at him, he moons them, and as you can see from the picture there's always one a**hole who has to take something bad and make it worse.
