My 03 M45 has sat for about 2 years. with the battery disconnected of and on. Do I have to have the computer reflashed ? I have the ABS traction control lite on and I want to get the car tagged again. I've owned the car since new and it has been serviced religiously every 5,000 mi to the mfg spec and This is the first time I've had a problem.....which I caused.

It could be as simple as the brake fluid being slightly low.

This might be obvious, but I think letting the fluids all sit for that long can cause problems. Gasoline, for one, will break down and cause a number of issues... Get it checked if you didn't plan for all that!

thanks for the excellent points. I have put gas treatment in the fuel and changed what fuel was in the car every six months. once I get it re tagged I will take it to the dealer for a checkup and flush the brake fluid and I have changed the oil. The car has 170,000 hard highway miles and was always well maintained, but I wonder about the transmission...and fluid.
gotta get that ABS light to go off so I can get the license renewed....sure made a mistake allowing it to expire. Will check the brake fluid level suggestion this morning.
So glad I found this forum. There is almost no information about these cars available.
