Guys I just replaced the wiper motor in my 89 240 last night, and my blades still go slooooooooooooooow. What gives?!?! I replaced a fuse as well because my wipers had stopped working altogether...but its tyhe same as the old motor.

I have another wiper motor coming ebay as well, but I think it'll be the same results. When you turn it on high speed I swear it goes even slower than the normal speed.

BTW: the wire plug that plugs into the socket on the wiper motor, does this go to the washer fluid pump? My connection end at the pump is corroded into brittle, and needs to be replaced.

thanks,

lbrowne

I replaced the blades on the car when I got it a year ago, the wipers have always been like this. maybe i should only turn them on when its raining.

heck they're slow just to clear mildew off the window in the morning!

wow old bump...

perhaps you could try changing the wiper control arm unit on the steering column? i beleive its comes out as a unit, find a friend and try theres and see if that fixes your problem.

He posted his own thread up as well as this. He mentioned he changed out most of the easy to get to stuff. I pointed out that the pivots might be junked up, which would put some strain on the motor potentially bogging it down.
