Hi,

We have a 2009 Versa with the 1.6 engine. Has anyone but an after market cruise in one these cars? If you did, what kind did you use and where did you buy it?

Thanks,

Jan

I haven't seen anyone on here that put one in. But I do know most aftermarket systems wont work, since we have drive by wire technology in the versa.

Well it took almost a year but we now have cruise control in the Versa. The big hold up was the fact that the car does not have anti-lock brakes. This summer Rostra Precision Controls release a kit to fit it. The kit is on Rostra's web site listed under Custom Pedal bBypass Kits

We just took a 600 mile trip with the car and it worked just fine.

How long did this take and who installed it. I see a Rostra 250-9504. Is this the part number?

Is this what the column control looked like and where did you mount it?

Any update on this? I would like to add cruise to my Versa. I am doing a 5000+km road trip this summer and would kind of like to have cruise.

Any issues with it? What was the cost to get it? Did you install yourself? Any info is appreciated thanks!

I got mine from a distributer that Rostra Precision Controls (rostra.com) put me in touch with. It was 250-9504 because our Versa is the base model without anti-lock brakes. The switch is like the one in the picture and there is not a lot of places to install it. I put mine right behind the the turn signal switch.

I think it cost around $200 and installed it myself. It works fine now but I initially had some intermitant problems until I tightened up all of the connections. Somewhere in the installation I unplugged accelerator harness with the battery hooked up which set a code that turned on the MIL lite. It was easily reset with a code reader from Advance Auto.

Hope this helps.

Yeah thanks!
I also have no anti-lock brakes so that would be the kit for me too. Looks like a pretty simple install. Thanks for the info, and please keep us posted on any developments!

We have a 4 speed auto, I did not investigate about different transmissions. I am sure some one with Rostra's tech support could help you out.

I would say yes...
I also have the 6spd and had been wondering the same thing so I looked through their website and in the installation manual for the 250-9504 they do have instructions for hooking up to the clutch wires. Even without that it would still work, except stepping on the clutch peddal would not disengage cruise control.

Hoping to get mine ordered this week!

I'm looking into the very real possibility that if you install the steering wheel with the cruise control buttons it will work and they can be had very cheap from junkyards! I'm holding off until I find out for sure.

Can you take a pix of your actual installation? Please. So I can see the actual placement of the cruise switch.

Rostra 250-9504.

Yes, this is the kit for the A/T and no ABS. My brother and I put in on the Versa this week. It works beautifully!

But the installation takes a skilled person. Several connections need to be soldered, (not crimped) and the installer must be skilled in tracing down electrical circuits. It took a couple of hours but worth it.

P.S. yes, this kit can be used with a manual transmission according to the instructions.

This s/b the link to the instructions,
