I've got the dreaded dead radio/climate control issue. It's in the advanced stages and I'm about to pull the life support. I'd like to get an HD radio with either an audio (iPod) jack or 10GB+ internal storage installed in lieu of the OE setup.

BUT...

Given that the OE radio and climate control share the same circuit board (or so I've read), would it even be possible for me to swap to an aftermarket system?

In other words, what I really want to know is if I put an aftermarket system in, will my climate controls begin behaving like normal again, or will they still be toast?

I only ask this because every thread I've researched has seem to conclude that the problem stems from a shared circuit board that is part of the radio unit. So I'm half-way parenoid that by removing the radio completely, my climate controls will then be rendered totally inoperable.

Advice anyone?

The JDM double DIN conversion kit comes with a climate control circuit board.
