I have a 1996 240sx and the rear's subrame's bushings are shot and the whole rear bounces around actually hitting me car when i let off the acceleration. Nissan says they don't sell the bushings (just because) and i need to buy to whole frame its self at $400 cost for my dads shop. Are there aftermarket performance bushing I can use to replace these shot ones? and does anyone know the cheapest source for and s15 sr20det?

Yep, cheapest route is buy some sub frame bushings from http://www.splparts.com. It does not replace the bushings but squeezes them making them basically solid. Much better feel to them.

Better yet, SPL just got some in stock so now would be an excellent time to order. They just shipped mine out.

Energy suspension dot com. They sadly do not make the complete kit for the S14 yet...only the S13 but if you wait long enough they plan on making one for the 95-98 240SX's. I have every bushing on my car replaced with energy suspension poly bushings the only thing that is not poly s the subframe which I got the spacers that (180fan) is talking about. I am waiting patiently for the energy supension subframe poly bushings to come out.

Do you like the new bushings from ES? Did they make a significant improvement? I am considering going with them, why I ask. I suppose the better question is, is it worth the $150 or so for the kit?

Actually Energy Suspension has the subframe poly spacers already available. It looks like a tube with a big thick metal washer. I got it with my master kit but didn't use it since I've got SPL's on their way. With the subframe, I'd still recommend SPL's for a couple reasons. 1. They're affordable and the designs rival that of other brands. 2. It's easy to install 3. The crew at SPL are always very accessable and can help you through your install should you have questions. Service becomes a big selling point after you've dealt with alot of dealers that don't come through. SPL is consistantly good. You can't go wrong.

Alright, so if I am reading you right, you suggest the S-13 Master kit from ES, and then which piece from SPL? The SPL pro aluminum subframe bushings ($129) or the SPL subframe bushing collars $74? I am not wanting to sound like a 'tard or 'noob, but just wanting to clarify. I am interested in how firm the ride is after the SPL inserts are installed compared to the poly ones. I am not looking for a 'kidney beater' setup again. The car this is going in is my 'daily. Sorry, not trying to hijack this thread :-\

With your setup, how harsh is the ride quality?

The ride quality is fine. I only have the subframe spacers and it eliminates the clunk or subframe movement. As for getting the solid BUSHINGS from SPL you will have to find out. I know a few people have them and they are stiff but not enough to cause a crappy ride.

Also if your car is indeed a 96 then you won't be able to get the S13 kit since you have an S14. ES does make a kit for the S14 but it only includes the tension rods and the swaybar/endlink bushings.
