After installing k&n intake ...

i've read a few of posts about installing intakes. i was wondering if anyone will know whats wrong with my car. after installing the intake with the battery connected i realized that when my car is in "D" going at about 65mph and i shift it to cvt mode it only brings me to 5th gear instead of 6th so when i manually shift to 6th and try to floor the car it seems like it don't want to go the rpm stays around 2k feels like its stalling on me. this problem is driving me crazy. any help or advice will be great.

i've also tried to disconnect my battery after i installed the intake.

p.s. if anyone is kind enough please take a few pics of how you mounted your heat shield because my heat shield isn't mounted correctly and its real hard to understand the instructions k&n has provided. detailed pictures would be great

take a picture of your intake of where you think it is installed incorrectly. and if i can find my camera i will go outside and snap a few pics.

feel kind of dumb but i didn't tighten the screws enough i just finished mounting it better now the heat shield is in place and doesn't really move. i just hope my filter don't fall off anymore since it has happened to me 2 times when my heat shield was loose

well just the heat shield is fixed. still have the 5th to 6th gear problem =/

If you filter is falling off id say you didnt tighten that either. the filter could have fallen off cuz of the heat shield vibrating or lack of tightening.

Oh man, scares me to see so many issues with the intake. I'm still waiting for mine to get in. Hope the install will be easier than it sounds like from all of you guys.

No issues so far with mine. Still doing good. I drove about 50 miles yesterday. Still havent went above 65mph but i did get to 6th and had no problems.

I don't think it is a problem with the intake. I am pretty sure all the cvt's go into 5th when switching to manual mode. I guess the computer thinks the reason you are going to manuel is because you want to downshift and slow down. As far as why your car feals like it going to stahl. I have no idea. Mine goes into 5th evertime I switch to manuel after I have reached the top gear.

I think I know what you are talking about when you say it feals like it is going to stall out. One night I saw a suped up spider on the freeway and I wanted to rev at him to see what he had. I new I couldnt beat him but just wanted to see what his car could do. I switched to manuel mode and my rpms shot way up and i slowed down. Then let up off the gas, flicked into 6th and there was a slight pause before it started picking up speed. Its like the cpu didnt like that I did that. So now I don't do that anymore. But my a/c is stock and it sounds like the same problem. So its not your intake.

Same here. I figured it was because the car thought I wanted to downshift as well.
