My car has been sitting due to a clutch failure and hadn't moved in awhile. However I did start it up every now and then. I started it up the other day and it seemed like it didn't want to run right. A friend suggested the a get some fresh fuel in the tank and replace my spark plugs and drive it for awhile. Is there something else that could have happened? What steps should I do to check everthing? I was also thinking about changing my oil and filter.

It pulls horrible vac and stutters, not sounding good at all...if I cant get her running guess I'll take it to SGP Racing for them to check it out

I think its because of the old gas.

It takes a LONG time for gas to go bad unless you somehow got water/other contaminants mixed with it.

My car was sitting without an engine for over 2 months and when I got it running it fired right up and purred like a kitten.

Gas would not affect vacuum. Vacuum leaks would affect vacuum.

I would change plugs, fuel filter, oil, and oil filter.

It only takes about 5 or 6 months before fuel begins to break down. It also depends on the fuel too. Some have less contaminents then others. This is a huge problem when storing a boat for the winter. The fuel breaks down and can clog the filter and lines. When the vehicle is started again all that crap gets forced into the injectors and the combustion chamber and can cause problems. I would suggest a new tank of gas and a good tune up w/plugs, wires, fuel filter and all that type of stuff.

Vacuum can also be altered by bad compression. If the compression is bad, then the intake stroke (which makes vacuum pressure) will cause the idle vac readings to be higher than they should be.

I'm going to replace the filters and the oil and gas. I'm also going to run some seafoam through the car also.

The motor passed compression across when i had it checked about........2-3months ago, so it should just be going like that
