how do i get my key release thing working??? in automatic ok park and push button voila comes out i cut all the cables that went to the shifter

now in manual i push the button but nothing cant pull out (it comes out since its a worn key :P) but still when i leave it in that position theres something ringing and crap (disconnected it but im getting parasitic drain from the battery, i BET its the key release system!) soooo ok what do i have to do, wire, splice, remove, so the key release system thinks im in park? and release the key all the way as it should???

Did you remove the green box from under the dash? It was bolted to where your clutch pedal now bolts. If so, put it back in. If not, make sure the fuse for the system didn't pop.

Hmmmm never removed anything under the dash, only thing i did inside the car was cut all cables connecting to the auto shifter.... where my clutch bolts i never saw a green box, maybe the last owner moved it somewhere else but nothing was touched under the dash, BUT i mean... it was working fine when it was auto, nothing was moved its just that now its not detecting that im in park so it can validate the key release, Does it count to say that the only transmission sensor i connected is the Speed sensor? no rev, neutral etc....

sooo how can i fool it to be always park? splicing a cable or something i dont know?

Well if u did the swap from auto to manual, Auto shifter has a trigger that deactivates when the car goes into PARK, when it deactivates the key release system unlocks and lets u push button and move the key to lock and remove....

So since I did a 5speed swap i had this problem that the key release NEVER got unlocked since i no longer can put my car into park and deactivate the trigger....

So... to the auto shifter there are 2 harnesses, one harness has (dahhh) cables which i cut, so i dont know what they did... BUT the other one has a Black plug that i actually unplugged from the auto shifter assembly, i started with the cables first, none of them did anything, and i started cutting the Plug`s cables, inmediately and i was halfway cutting the plug (cables joined due to the knife) i heard the lovely CLICK sound, so i cut it all, joined the 2 cables that unlocked the key release and voila its done i can push the button and release anytime since it never locks

IN resume, just look where the shifter used to be look for a harness with a black small plug with like... 4 cables in it, and cut it up and join the cables in pair until u get the click from the key release. (if u dont have those cables just start mixing them until u get the click! :P)

btw, this is when its a swap i dont know if the factory 5speed models has any harness in the shifter... they probably use something on the clutch pedal and brake pedal and not in the shifter or the neutral gear sensor from the transmission...

Good luck

OH YEAH, ill post pictures tonight

and also btw, u can pull the lil red lever inside the keyrelease thing... U pull the lever, push the button and twist the key to LOCK possition, that also works, but i wouldnt have wanted to wiggle my finger in there everytime... but if ur a stock 5speed model maybe u can use this resource... its not so unconfortable

I have an auto that i switched to a manual, i already knew about the red switch. I just wanted to know how to wire it so it didn't freeze up. Pictures would be awsome.

Ok this is in the shifter part, on the lower left part (below the center console) 2 harness go to the shifter, those are the cables and i just joined those 2 together, also seal off all the other ones, since some of those will make the car NOT turn off,
