So I just got back from South Dakota early this morning. I just picked up my first S14 Zenki, it's a 1995 automatic . But hey, an S14 is an S14 in my eyes. I totally told my parents I went somewhere else, but really went to SD and bought the car, drove it back. Now I'm waiting for them to come home and probably get eaten alive.

I want to say it was all worth it, but there's a lot of work that needs to be done.First off the idiot I bought it from thought it would be a good idea to CUT the HEADLINER! So now I have a huge hole around the whole inside roof my car. Plus the aftermarket sunroof motor was pulled, and the sunroof was kind of cracking, so we HAD to close it up with silicon.

Next is the cracked dash, if anyone has an uncracked dash with an airbag, please let me know! Also, the steering wheel airbag deployed, so I need a new one of those.

And the oh so common... Odometer doesn't work. The guy said it has about 75k (+530 or so from me driving it back.) on the engine, but it reads at 73,647 miles.

One last thing, when I take quick left turns, the tires tend to rub on the wheel well I'm thinking, and it kind of tears the outside of the tires up, can anyone help me with any of this? Thanks so much in advance.

Welcome...I know how you feel man, eventhough I got mine 10 months ago. How much did you pay for that car? About the tire sound, check your front bushing, old cars like ours tend to have worn out bushing and when you push the car too hard it would flex. What type of suspension do you have? Sometimes people do it the getto way and cut the spring just to look cool, and thats a big no no, check the springs. As for your parents... just find some help or darn good reason for your car like "I wanna be a mechanic, so I bought this old car to start with"

that could just be the wheel rubbing on the crappy stock plastic wheel liner, easy way to deal with that is to just take em out

$4600:/ Seems like I kind of got ripped off with all the little things it needs, but apparently it does have "low" miles. Can't really tell if it's the truth since I bought it with a broken odometer.

Now that I think about it... He did say something about the driver front bushing needing to be replaced. It's been a long day, haha. I have gotten 2 hours of sleep since Thursday night, which I had to go to school Friday then dip outta Nebraska to South Dakota.

About my parents, they weren't as pissed as I thought they would be. It was the whole "my money, my choice, whatever makes me happy" kind of thing. Which is quite outrageous because if you're an Asian female, not much of that freedom rolls around. haha.

haha all good! I'm totally in love, I'll have to post pics soon and show you guys about the rear tires so it's easier to explain haha.

Thanks again guys!

Air bag deployed, that can't be any good. Deffenetly get the car in good working order before you start upgrading stuff.

Good luck

Not trying to burst your bubble or anything, but man you got screwed. If the airbag has been deployed, at least in my state, the car is considered totaled by the insurance companies. And, like someone said above, you gotta wonder why the airbag was deployed.

The biggest selling point for you and this car is the fact that it has under 100k miles. The catch there is that the odometer is broken, so how do you really know it has under 100k and hes not just lying? (And he probably was.)

The other issues are more or less minor, but still you have to consider them. I would try to get a Carfax report on the car and see what that says. I honestly wouldnt have paid more than 3000 for it.

But, good luck in your future plans for this car. If you plan to swap it, motor mileage isnt that big of a deal, same with it being auto. The dash will be an annoyance, but its not the end of the world. The other issues are all small repairs.

Yeah, I was like way too excited and didn't really check the whole car out before negotiating on the price. I found a dash with an airbag so that fixes my problem about the dash.

But I've got plenty of time to deal with this car, I'm only 18 haha. It'll give me something to do outside work and school.

Nice Liz

Glad you found something...

What does the title say about mileage? Exempt?.. That means the car probably has well over 200k+.

Whats the whole story on the airbag deployed?

Is there an aftermarket steering wheel on it?

Can we see some pics?

But like you said, if all need be, tear it down to the ground, and rebuild it from the frame up

Hows the rust?

Well Congratulations on the car of your dreams! & welcome to NICO.

What's done is done on what you paid for the car. I would still look into the history of the car tho and hopefully the frame is straight.

When you get a chance post up some pictures and if you need a driver side airbag let me know I have one.

Good luck with the car!

The title does say exempt... that kind of scares me. :/ Don't know the story on the airbags being deployed really. And no there's not an aftermarket steering wheel it's the original one but the jackass shoved the airbag back in the steering wheel. So I'm looking for the driver side airbag to buy.

if I put in a new cluster, will that then fix the odometer? I found one for about $120 shipped, so if you can beat that, I'm down for a deal, email me at [email protected] haha.

ANDDDDD... Pictures will come probably on Friday or so.. gonna get the boy tinted and cleaned. I work everyday this week right after school. Be patient ya'll!

hey Liz, congrats on your first s14. everything that is wrong with the car is really minor stuff. I'm pumped for you to turn that car around! And you buying it in that state just gives you the opportunity to make that s14 your s14. And when you sit back and look at it, it'll be that much most satisfying! Good luck. And I've got lots of zenki parts if you need any. Slide or die!
