I purchased my M37x back in October. This is a very fun driving car. I had a stretch at 124, very nice handling vehicle. I will need to add a subwoofer, the upgraded system lacks the low end I need. Great car, great driving

So I decided that it was time to order an air filter. I decided to order the Takeda Attack. It's available for the G37, not the M. So I decided to give it a chance. Doesn't look like it is going to work. The air filter has to go through a certain point. The point that exist in the G37 does not exist in the M. So it looks like I'm going to have to resell it on a forum or ebay. I was wondering if any one else had any luck with this filter in their M.

Now it's back to the drawing board, looking for a filter. I would like to hear your air filter options/stories.

Thanks

If you still have and want to keep the stock air filter system I'd recommend just picking up a K&N filter and dropping that in there. Otherwise if you want an aftermarket CAI, you should be able to find one from Injen in the Classifieds or eBay for a reasonable price. I installed the Injen CAI and I like the improved look and sound a lot.

I most definitely will be going Cold Air. Had one on my previous car, and miss that extra kick.

Did you see this thread on the M37 build?: project-m37xs-takeda-intakes-bc-coils-h ... 83535.html

may want to talk to Red to see if he can hook you up, or what modification they had to do to get the Takeda short ram in there.
maybe you could exchange it for the model they used.

I have a R2C cold air intake, but they only make it for the M45, sorry.

good luck,

Craig

Persnally, I'm not a fan of CAI. I have seen too many documented tests with a Dyno that no extra HP is gained (sometimes it decreases slightly) and that air temps are not improved by them. Tons of people still use them though, I guess for the look or the sound they make. Until I can find a dyno-confirmed test that proves increase in HP, I doubt I will go to the trouble to onstall one. I suppose its a subjective thing like my belief that oil changes at 3k miles are better than 5k miles. We do it coz it we 'feel' its better, wether it really is or not.

Larz, your 3k oil changes are what's causing the arctic vortex lol!

Seriously though with synthetic you can safely go to 7k or longer provided it's topped up.

So is the K&n worth getting for the M35? Any improvement?
I plan to keep the car for a few years till I can afford a newer m upgrade but would probably only go though one regular filter.

First, I doubt the HP "gain" of a K&N filter would be perceptible.

Second, our Nissan engines, with their hot-wire MAF systems are prone to problems with the K&N filter ... does not happen immediately, but in time.

You can do this "upgrade", of course, since it is your car :yesnod, but I think it is better to simply use the OEM (or similar) non-oiled filter and simply replace it often. The cost is low and it is a trivial DIY change.
