I started the 91 Q45 last night and heard the humming noise from failing fuel pump. So as heard the noise, I shut it off quickly to keep from damaging the Fuel Pump Control Module. Not bad for 28 years and 165,000 miles.

Actually, I purchased a Nissan replacement pump several years ago to keep on hand for then the original pump decided to fail.

I will change it in a few weeks when the weather warms up a bit. I'm not driving the car right now.

Ok - This morning I replaced the fuel pump. Don't even think about replacing the pump without reading the following article and removing the package shelf. I've had a new pump in reserve for roughly 8 years while I waited for the original to fail. The new pump is quiet. All good.

Now to fix the air mix door problem before hot weather arrives.

I'm glad to hear that you got it replaced. It's pretty cool that an article that old is still the go-to reference for fuel pump replacement 15+ years later.
