AFS On Off Switch

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I just took delivery of a 2010 EX35 Journey with the premium package (no tech package). The owners manual illustrates an on/off switch (lower left side of the dash) for AFS. My car doesn't have the switch, but it does have AFS (at least the invoice says it does). Am I missing something?

With AFS, the Xenon headlamps are linked to steering inputs and automatically follow the path of the front wheels to provide a wide spread of light around corners and on winding roads.

Xenon auto-leveling headlights with Adaptive Front lighting System is part of the Premium pkg. I've got the Premium pkg., but no switch either.

Not sure what a switch would do if you look at the description above.

I'll look in my manual.

I know what you're talking about. You're referring to that small quick reference manual, right?

I think that small book is completely WRONG!

They showed 3 pictures of that switch bank where that supposed switch should be. All 3 pictures are different!

From what I remember, the first picture shows the AFS switch on the far right with 2 other buttons for lane departure warning and brake assist. The 2nd picture shows just the AFS button on the far right with lane departure button on the middle, and a blank/fake button on the left. The last picture (towards the back of the booklet) shows the AFS button in the MIDDLE, with what appears to be the lane departure button on the right and also what appears to be a FOLDING MIRROR button on the left! I don't even think that's available in the U.S.!

And, yes, that booklet is marked as '10. I don't know if the earlier models had the AFS switch and they got rid of it in '10 but Nissan should really proofread their material before sending it out. And before anyone else asks, the car I'm referring to also has the Premium package (which includes the AFS). Also, FWIW, I remember the manual said that it was printed in August '09, or something like that, whereas the thick owners manual was October or some time closer to the actual delivery date of the first batch of the '10 vehicles. In the thick owner's manual, it actually shows the correct buttons in that switch bank (1 blank, 1 lane departure, and 1 brake assist, NONE for AFS).

I have a 08 with AFS and the button is not located in the 3 button bank, it is located by itself below the 3 bank if i remember correctly its fairly hidden, my vehicle does not have the tech package(lane assist, AVM,and intelligent cruse) but has everything else.

If its in a different location i will let you know.

On my 2008 EX35 with Tech & Premium packages, the AFS switch is in the bank of 3 switches: LDW, blank, AFS.

There are inconsistencies between the quick guide and the owners manual. I did call customer service and they assigned a folder # looking into this. Additionally, another possible error. There is reference to an inner tray in the console box. My car doesn't have the inner tray. I went to the dealer to get one and my salesman checked 2 other EX35's and there was no inner tray in either of them. Do any of you who have a 2010 EX35 (any trim) have an inner tray?

Do you have a page reference in the manual or, better yet, a picture?

Also, in regards to missing items, did everyone get the key number plate used for making new keys? It shows it in the '10 manual but we never got one. Our salesman claims there's no such thing and hasn't seen one before. We're currently trying to get the dealer to get us one or have it remade for us. I could've sworn I saw it dangling from one of the key fobs when we were at the dealership but it was gone when he handed us the keys.

I did get the key plate. It was attached to one of the FOB's. The reference to the console box inner tray is in the owners manual (instruments and controls) page 2-45.

I'll have to check to make sure but I don't remember seeing that, either. Guess it's another thing to hound the dealership about.

EDIT: OK, I just did a little researching. I went on infinitipartsusa.com and infinitipartswarehouse.com to see if they list that part. UNFORTUNATELY, they only have the '08-'09 EX. If you search in their parts and choose "Console," click on one of the parts like, "Cup Holder" and pick one of the choices they have. Then, if you click on the link for "View Illustration," you'll see part #15 which I THINK is the inner tray you're referring to in the manual. And, yes, it's in the manual for my '10 as well.

Now, maybe it's something that they got rid of for the '10 (like the AFS button) and forgot to delete it from the manual. Can other '10 owners confirm if they have this inner tray?

i dont have a tray in mine either. What's even more hilarious and i totally didnt realize until my brother pointed it out to me cuz he saw my 09 and 10 next to each other....but my 2010 also is missing the Infiniti Emblem and EX35 emblem on the back....LOL

not that big of a deal to me, but it was kinda funny...

tho the inner tray is kinda annoying that we dont have one, the 09 had one...

I was a little annoyed there wasn't extra storage in the console.

Did some research based on information posted about the tray and had to get one.

I'll post a pic when I get it.

Glad my info helped.

I contacted my dealer about it and hopefully they'll come through. What's weird is that the verbage in the manual states "if equipped" or something like that. It's not listed anywhere as an accessory and the Tech package is the only package that's not on the car. Unless it comes with that package (which I also don't remember seeing mentioned), I don't see how anyone would know how to get their car equipped with this tray.

Infiniti Customer Service confirmed that there is no AFS on off switch on the 2010 EX35, and that the quick start guide is incorrect. The owners manual is correct but poorly documented. AFS status is flashed on the instrument panel at start up. I'm still waiting to hear from them on whether or not the inner console tray should have been included at purchase.

What I don't understand is that the manual says with the tray, "if equipped" or something like that. Granted, the manual is full of errors (just found some more in regards to the phone book functionality and some of the buttons that are supposed to be on the navi), but I just wonder what package you would have to buy to get that tray. Ours is only missing the Tech package so, unless it only comes with that, I don't know how else to get it. It's also not shown as an accessory on Infiniti's site.

However, the dealership we purchased the vehicle from has agreed to send one to us free of charge. It's probably to make up for the fact that they never gave us the key number plate, though. I'll have to get on Infiniti USA's customer service to see what they can do.
