AFR gauge(attn: anyone who has one already)

hey, i just had a thought. all that an AFR gauge does is measure the voltage coming out of your oxygen sensor and convert it ot a Air:Fuel ratio on the display, right? so technically, couldn't you just hook a voltmeter up to that wire coming out of the the sensor, or even the one going in to the ECU, then convert the voltage i get to the coresponding Air:Fuel ratio? in theory, this would work. So i just need someone who has an AFR gauge and a voltmeter to hook that meter up and then get the AFR at a couple point so I could make a scale. If someone could do this for me, it would be awesome.

I believe it's between zero and one volt. Volt meter probably wouldn't read as fast as the AFR gauge though.
