Unless you really know what you're doing, cutting your springs will lower your performance and give you a ricey ride. Lowerings springs on stock shocks/struts will wear those components out faster.

If you're after performance save your money and do it right the 1st time. Strut/spring combo or coils....

DONT DO IT! cutting the springs lowers the car, but reduces the amount of force needed to bottom out your dampers (Shocks) I.E a pothole that would normally make you uncomfortable will now destroy your dampers and maybe damage other suspension pieces (controll arms, tie rods) It will also change the geometry of your suspension in several unhealthy ways, causing bumpsteer and accelerating the wear and tear on your suspension. In short: Totally not worth it. Shoot me an email @ [email protected] and I might be able to hook you up with a good coilover setup at a decent price.

if you cut your springs, you'll blow your shocks faster than anything... because you have a stock spring rate at a lower height...

but hey.. at least you'll look good doing it right?

just save up for coilovers. one of my cars has tein lowering springs and gr2 struts. the struts are starting to fail in less than a year. well they are leaking.

4 new struts ~400tein lowering springs ~150 so $550

save a couple hundred and get some basic coilovers and be 10x better off

cutting springs is horrible. have you ever seen cars with cut springs? hit a bump and it feels like a bunny rabbit hopping up and down. listen to everyone on here and do NOT cut your springs.

A. not everybody needs coilovers. most people do not need the ultimate adjust ability, and most people who have them, set them up, and never touch them again.B. gr-2s are designed as a stock replacement. putting shorter springs on stock struts will do the same things to your struts that cut springs do, but the ride will be better. you need a strut designed for a shorter spring like agx's or tokikos

to the op, cutting your springs will reduce the # of coils in the spring, causing the spring rate to be softer. aftermarket lowering springs, wind the coils closer together, making the rate stiff, but the height shorter. i do not recommend using stock or oem replacement struts with lowering springs as you will blow your shocks and experience bouncing over bumps
