Does anybody here have an aero bumper with a front plate mounted to it? Does the factory plate mount fit well or did you use something else?

I wasn't too crazy about the fitment, well hell, I really didn't want the plate on there in the first place. But I didn't want to get caught riding dirty, not to mention I work on a Military Installation and they be tripping over this crap. They had to drill holes into the bumper to mount that little plate bracket. I have pic's of the bumper without the plate installed (and drilled holes exposed), as I have it sitting in my buddies garage (swapped the Aero for a Sport Bumper). Soo, I can get those pics up if needed.

I hope this helps...

Can't see the pic :frown: Did you use the OEM plate bracket or something else?

I did the tow-hook think on my BMW e91. I'm debating as to whether or not I would do it again when the dealership washed my car and bent the plate up. I ended up drilling holes to mount the OEM plate.

Mjkkb2: how long have you had that on your car and what do you think of the quality of materials?

I wonder if it's possible to zip tie the plate in the middle space of the aero bumper...guess I'll find out this weekend!

Had it about a year. The quality is very good. This plate is thick and would be hard to bend. I still avoid car wash stations unless it's touch less because the license extends past the plate and it will get bent easily. I would recommend getting it. However, cost of two zip ties sure beats the $85

:chuckle: I'll be driving it home without a front plate (just over 2 hours). I'm not worried about getting pulled over on the trip back but I will need to figure something out eventually. Around town it's not a big deal, but when I'm on the interstate, it seems like state patrol will look for anything to pull someone over. (hopefully there aren't any state troopers on this forum lol).

I was gonna get the stillen tow hook plate holder but the placement seems weird to me. I'm just going hard with no plate. ;)

I was pulled over twice when my G had no plate. One time on the interstate, (the cop said it was due to my 20% tint, but I knew it was because I didn't have a front plate and he mentioned it as well) and another time it was because it "appeared" I was going fast around a bend and the cop also mentioned my lack of front plate.

No tickets either time but after the second time, I just said eff it and put the plate on the front bumper, hole and all.

I'm not really feeling the placement of the Stillen kit either...and $85...call me cheap lol

I didn't like the placement of the stillen bracket, so that's how i ended up with the mounted plate.

I had the dealership install mine, and the process required them to remove the bumper for installation. There are marked points on the inside of the bumper and thats where they would drill (not just a random spot).

Here in my area, i dont take chances, ill rock a front plate all day, because i cant stand being harassed by the cops.. Pointless.

it does sit a bit high, would be better more over the lower grill, but I've gotten used to it over time.

Very cool. It looks like I can adjust the height of the mount so I can raise it or lower it as I need to. Seeing this design, I can probably fab something up that will work from the hardware store. Nice!

That's a pretty nice bracket. At least the holes are under the bumper.

Not sure about the non-sport bumper license bracket but I can tell you that the license plate brackets for both the aero and sport bumper are the same, so I would imagine all 3 bumpers use the same bracket.

In Georgia, you only need the rear plate, front bumper is free except for little chips in the paint on the front bumper, gotta be some thin layers of paint but that's another story

Great! This was what I was looking for. I think I might look into the mount mentioned above for now but thanks for the info!

I too went with the Stillen tow hook plate mount. While it is not exactly attractive, it serves a purpose to keep the LEOs happy, and keep the Aero bumper cover free of holes.

My work computer doesn't like dropbox. I can see it from my home computer though. Thanks!

Looks good! Definitely better off to the side then in the middle in my opinion.

Me too. And Imma roll like that for as long as I can. It's funny because in my Altima SER, I didnt have a front plate either. Although I never got pulled over for that, I did get pulled over for tint multiple times until I just had to take it off.

At least for now the M isn't my daily driver.

I can't. I've been pulled over twice for not having a plate. Once on the interstate and once in the city. This was on my modded G. I'm sure the car has more to do with it than the presence of a plate or not...damn pigs...

IMO plate needs to be in the middle or not on the front period...off to the side is just, not symmetrical. lol.
