Running the AEM UEGO wideband in my S13 with an SAFC-II...

Car idles like crap (timing jumps, idle hunts, stalls even) with the wideband O2 installed, but idles fine with the OEM one installed.

I have some folks telling me the ECU needs to see the stock O2...

Others say the wideband sends the same signal back to the ECU so the wideband can replace the stock O2.

Which is right?

Is the narrowband output wired correctly? The aem emulates a stock O2 and needs to be wired to the ecu harness.

i wouldved thought the aem uego can simulate the narrowband. where did u wire it in? was it by the ecu? if so, try wiring it in from inside the engine bay and see if u still get the same thing. i guess the other thing is does the wideband seem to working correctly? and if so, fire off an email to aem just to see what they say. hope this helps.

I'm with eh? on this one... is the narrow band output correctly setup and connect to the ECU?

its one or the other, each way will work but one NEEDS to be done

to me its a lot better to jsut weld in another o2 sensor bung. makes it easy to throw on another car that needs some tunning

I'm not quite sure what's meant here... The OEM wiring for the O2 sensor is in place, and is wired to the ECU from the factory. Had 2 people check the AEM wideband wiring and said it was OK.

I'm still a bit confused when you say "it's one or the other"....

You have 2 Scenarios:1. you need to connect both the wideband and the narrowband to your downpipe.

2. Only use your wideband. You need to connect your wideband`s Simulate narrowband wire to pin 19 on the ECU.

That is what they meant when you have to use one or the other. Personally I used Scenario 2. I didn`t want weld another connector on my downpipe.
