For what? And you're pretty sure to get conflicting answers anyway...

It's just an intake... won't make much difference either way. I have an AEM and it is totally great.... but the Injen is basically the same thing... and you can get the cold air extension. The only advantage to the AEM is the heat resistant coating. If you can get it for $120... totally go for it.

they pretty much are identical except for what maineimport said. one of the companies also has this thingy ....i forgot the exact name but it is something along the lines of water bypass valve or air bypass valve. it's supposed to keep water out of the CAI.

injen intake has a bigger diameter piping. Uses thinner walling, but the only problem there is that it could probably get hotter that the AEM. I have the AEM and personally i dont like either...they sit too close to the radiator and just absorb heat. I am relocating my battery to the trunk and mandrel bending a pipe to the spot where the battery sits.

Just call it a bypass valve... and you want one, because if you hit a relatively deep puddle and your engine slurps some water... there gonna be a whole lotta noise smoke and such eminating from your engine...

WHAT? Where did you get that idea? Injen was started by a former AEM designer.... and I believe the design is exactly the same. I've never heard that the diameter is larger.... I'd like to see the measurements.

aem = 2.5 inchesinjen = 3 inches

i found out about the aem diameter by going here

it may not be credible, but at least they're numbers.

Well... go to your link and you will see why you are wrong. The article is written for preludes and it says that the intake pipe is 3", and then in the same sentence it says the intake pipe is 2.5".

The TB on a KA has a larger than 3" outside diameter and the intake pipe is 3" in diameter.

Also.... that isn't for an s14.... because AEM doesn't have a CAI for the s14.... and that article clearly shows and discusses the CAI.... so it is NOT a very reliable source to quote for an AEM s14 intake... seeing as how it's a Prelude review.

CAN I USE A INJEN COLD AIR EXTENTION ON MY AEM SHORT RAM ? AEM DOES NOT MAKE A COLD AIR EXTENTION, OR DO THEY?

Never tried it... but I believe it will work. From what I have read they are identical in shape and size.

I LOVE my AEM short-ram.

It's polished, so it looks good, and the heat resistant coating is always nice, too. The filter is said to be one of the best available...I think some people have actually wanted to put the AEM filter on their Injens.

I highly, highly recommend the AEM. I have one on my otherwise-stock '96 and it sounds amazing above 3500rpm and I did feel a bit of a power gain after installation.

Get the AEM, you won't be sorry. :)

I don't know personally, but doesn't the extension connect to the MAF? if so, it shouldn't matter if you have AEM.

just curious... but does it even matter what brand of intake you get? dont they all work the same ? is it possible to just buy a generic brand and it basically be the same as a name brand intake ?... just curious

Yes, but pipe diameter, and ease of install often comes with better brands... but for an intake, any brand will do...

Injen Cold Air Intake for around $215 shipped at horse power freaks . If i were to buy in intake right now, that would be the one. I don't work for that company, just trying to share info with fellow 240sx owners :)

$215?! That sounds excessive. I am pretty sure you can find one for less than that. I think there is one on ebay for about $130 or so.

How much nose does an intake actually make.

Enough noise to drown out the sound of your exhaust.... inside the car, and sometimes outside the car...

Short ram, slightly noticeable difference in sound, cai is pretty loud. makes the car sound pretty bad *** actually. The cold air extension pipe goes off the maf adapter that you have to use, so i am almost positive you can use the injen cold air with the aem intake. Also what color do you want? aem is available in there blue/red, but if you want polished its more money. Not a whole lot, like 20 bucks, but its included with the injen intake. Also the aem bypass valve will work on either intake, but if you have a cold air, and it gets submerged in water, dont count on it saving your engine. it wont. Aem piping is 3 inches, but has thicker walls making for the size in piping difference to be like 1 mm. Not even a noticeable difference. If you want a cold air, just get injen. If you want a short ram. 120 for an aem is damn good. And also another big difference in a cheap intake and a expensive one is the filter. Both aem and injen use k&n filters which are awsome, and reusable, after you clean them. If you get like a cp intake, the filter will fall apart, ive seen it happen. Might as well run open tb if you are going to have a cp intake on your car. A good filter can cost you 40-100 bucks, so just buy an aem, or injen.
