So, as the topic may suggest, I was wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge of the differences between the AEM and Injen intakes (besides $50 and the ability to add the cold air extension to the Injen).

Is one noticeably better than the other in fitment or quality of materials?

Thanks!

I would go with the injen. It would be worth it to add another 50 bucks to get that cold air. AEM is alright but most people go with injen on their ka. Besides i think the injen looks way more better.

This is probably the best way to do it. I can't remember who's car this is exactly but he's on here. A slightly different bend will be needed on a DE and in either situation the battery will need to be relocated. Even after that it still shouldn't come out to be more than a name brand intake tube. You could even fab a shield up from the battery tray if you wanted.

Edit: some vaccum lines will need to be modified/removed as well.

Well, I'd prefer to not have to fab up the system and would probably want to keep the intake in the same location as the stock airbox. I just can't help but wonder why the AEM sells so much cheaper than the Injen.

I had/ve an Injen on my old white S13 and put it on my current red S13. My friend has an AEM on his 92' fastback, they are both identical in short ram form. One thing i like about the AEM: it doesn't have a stupid hole for the resonator box that sits in front of the radiator (near the battery) for some reason Injen decided to put a hole on the tubing for it. It's a useless box! So i got a expander/rubber fitting to plug the hole. I say go for either brand

Hmmm...that's good to know. Since I'm not gonna go with a CAI, I may as well get the cheaper AEM. The thing about the resonator is good to know. Hopefully, next week I'll do intake, exhaust, header, wires, plugs, coolant temp sensor, oil change, wash/wax/ touch-up paint.

Hooray for vacation week!

i have the Injen and its VERY annoying to have the resonator box hole just sitting there. mine has been capped off, but its still pointless.

ive felt both the AEM and the Injen and both feel identically the same. in fact, the $40 intakes sold on Ebay feel just as good as the name brand units. so, its all a matter of opinion i guess.
