Alright, so this thing is confusing me. I honestly bought it knowing basically nothing about widebands. I assumed it was something that replaced my stock sensor for more accurate readings, esp. in rich condition.
So now that it's sitting on my desk and I'm looking at it and not seeing a way for it to connect to my ECU I started to do some researching.
I've been at this for a couple hours now going through posts up to 5 years back when this was apparently a new item on the market.
To my surprise I've read that you run it with your stock O2 sensor (ECU wouldn't know what to do with the wideband signal), and that with a stock ECU it's basically just for readings. But I've also read you can replace your stock O2 sensor with it because it because it has configurable output? The white wire which is optional in the install process...?
Can someone please clear things up for me? Maybe it's just real late and my brain went to sleep hours ago...
I'm running an Enthalpy tuned ECU...am I to run the wideband in addition to my stock narrowband O2 sensor; thus my ECU gets no functional input from the wideband? Rendering it useless for the most part, or am I missing something? In one thread I saw FlatBlackIan said that setting it up to replace factory input is a little more in depth...let's go in depth.
Also, I know there's like eleventy threads on the subject, but my stock o2 sensor is in the elbow coming off the turbine housing...3 inches from my turbo...much less than the AEM recommended minimum distance. So is there any solid consensus on have far downstream from the turbo to mount the sensor yet?? Seems like every single person has a different number.
Thanks, goodnight, and merry Christmas guys.
