I just read somewhere that the EMS has a built in boost controller...is this true? Anyone know if its anygood? Ivan? I hope this is true since it will be another thing i won't have to get by getting the EMS! In my mind it pays for itself because other wise i would have bought; safc, msd btm, BC, and i know theres more i can't think of...oh, a new map instead of the inferior maf...common S14 EMS!!!

Yes it has built in boost control. It actually works quite well. You just need a boost control solenoid. A GM style boost control solenoid is about 25 bux from GM but the harness you need will run you about 35 bucks. We keep them in stock at the shop. Chris Threadgill's 809 RWHP Lexus SC 300 we tuned last weekend uses one. Programing the BC takes a little while, but once dialed in, it works unbelievably well. You need to hook up your lap top to change boost levels or you can program a second higher boost level that works off an input switch to the AEM. Its really slick.

Does the EMS have a good knock sensor/meter too? That'd be another thing i wouldn't have to get...

the EMS plugs into the factory harness, so it will be reading the signal from the factory knock sensor as well. From that I imagine you can use any of the EMS' features: add fuel, take away timing, conditional statements etc etc etcccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc

Yes there is datalogging for the factory KS. You can even output voltage to you CEL to light up if the knock gets to be too much. There is a knock control program that you can set up that will pull timing or reduce boost or fatten up the mixture or all three if knock gets to be too much. You can hook up a large red led to the EMS and tell it to turn on if any parameter is out of whack. On your datalogging screen, you can program any of the data boxes to turn red if it gets outside your set parameters. You can set up a boost cut, speed cut, etc. Its out of control what you can have the EMS do for you.

On another note, I was talking through email with the guys at Boostevolution.com and he insisted that the EMS had been released for the S14. I was under the impression that it hadn't yet been released. Who's wrong here?

Hm, according to the AEM site, it HAS been released. How did I miss that?
