Ok, I know that aem is telling me manual transmission only, but I like my auto. Here's the thing: on some other threads (i.e. one about a 91 accord auto), some guy was running the ems fine because there is a separate transmission controller unit. The only issue was idling.

I looked through the factory service manual, and there is a transmission control unit located above the normal ecu. So, this kind of makes things interesting (well sort of). Does anyone know for sure if an ems (or even manual ecu) will work on my 240?

I was thinking of putting in a manual ecu from an 89 240sx to see how things work, but of course I don't want to blow anything up on my car. Basically, it seems if the ecu would work, then everything should drive transparently to me w/ a manual ecu. If it doesn't, then I should notice some problems like shifting. Does my logic make sense, or am I headed down a road of disaster?

Thanks guys

The AEM EMS has AT control built in. BUT, you cant just plug and play. When I get my S14 EMS, I will be working on getting it to shift my trans. I will keep everybody updated on how that works out. It IS possible.

sweetness, please keep us updated (or at least me) . It sucks that the only auto trans nissan they will support is the skyline .

Hmmm, anyone ever try putting a manual ecu into the 240sx to see if the transmission control unit will still work?

Well my car is a 93 that used to be an auto, so it still has the automatic harnesses and stuff... EMS seems to be working fine so far, even though I did change the car over to MT. I think whats not supported by AEM is specific control of the AT shift points etc etc.

Then again I'm not too sure on what it takes to correctly set up an AT... All I know is that the harness itself does not cause a problem.
