Just got my EMS today and wanted to try to get it connected and make sure there was nothing wrong with the box since I bought it from an individual. Took out the stock ECU, plugged up the EMS box and connected it to the laptop.

I am using a IOgear USB/Serial Adapter to connect it to my gateway laptop since it doesnt have a real serial port. I have tried to get this thing to work every way possible to my knowledge.

The COM port my laptop is set to for the USB to Serial Bridge is COM5. On the selection of ports in AEMPro, the only choice I can select is COM5. All of the settings for the ports in Windows are default. Just bought this adapter today, and ran the CD included for the drivers.

Things i have tried:

With the cable connected, run AEMPro, connect to ecu, "Querying ECU" pops up and then I turn the ignition ON. It sits there for a minute and then the "Parity, breaking, and framing errors. They all don't always show up, atleast one shows up each time I do this though.

With the cable connected, run AEMPro, turn ignition ON, then connect to ECU. It just goes to the "Querying ECU" pop up and nothing else happens, no errors.

I am trying to figure out if the box is bad or if I am just having communication problems.

Any help with be great!

Thanks!

Mike
