Wanted to share with the community that AEM has designed an air intake system specific to the 3.7 version of our M's. (Sorry 5.6's) I just so happened to stumble across it on Amazon tonight and ordered one. They're listed on AEM's website as being compatible with the 2011-2013 M37's and 2014-current Q70's and they also include the heat shields. Finally we have an intake system designed for our own cars and don't have to go lifting them from the G37's or 370z's. :dblthumb: If anyone is interested, it's model # is AEM-21-823DS.

I wonder if after installing these intakes if I'll be in need of getting my Uprev map retuned because as of now I've been running the stock intake boxes w/HPS intake tubes and K&N filters? :gotme

The Top Speed set up is very similar to the Takeda’s I used to run on my M. I’m sure they’ll sound nice but I believe you’ll lose some power due to heat soak since they’re not boxed in by heat shields. Instead of the carbon fiber or titanium I’d definitely invest in some kind of shielding. I’m gonna install that AEM intake this coming week when I change out my valve cover gaskets & spark plugs. Hopefully it all fits like a glove.

LOL I didn't mean you...I just meant people seeing this would inevitably be asking for a link to the product because Googling is hard

Installed the AEM intakes and noticed a loss in performance in mid and top range, nothing crazy but enough for me to notice that something was off. Ended up data logging with the Uprev software and emailing them over to my tuner. He said that I definitely needed to add some fuel to the mid and top end. Just reflashed the new tune yesterday with the new adjustments and took her for a quick spin. Immediately noticed the improvements. I've gotta do another data log and email it over to see if there needs to be any more fine tuning but even with the corrections made thus far its running far better. I'm sure I could have kept running the car without a re-tune and had no issues but I know how the car is supposed to run with a good tune, been running it tuned for 2 years now. So if anyone is Uprev'd and is contemplating purchasing the AEM intakes, be prepared to re-tune if you want to get your $$$'s worth and have optimal performance. I'll probably be throwing her on the dyno some time soon to see what and if any gains were made with this AEM intake.

CAI's have been proven time and time again to be basically a waste of time and money. IF there is a gain, it is not worth mentioning (maybe 5-10 BHP), and usually they rob power. The car was designed with an intake molded to increase air flow (although it is plain-jane looking). The only real reason to add an after market CAI is primarily for looks. If you add a C AI and also add a tune, that's a different story.
Here is an actual test:

.
Here is a video testing the 3.7 engine when simply changing stock air filters to K&N:

.
It's worth mentioning that owners have reported trouble with MAFs due to oils coming off the K&N filters.

Agreed, any mods to the intake or exhaust parts on these cars will need a tune to make an improvement over factory besides simply sound.

Did you notice a huge difference in performance. It's more of a last mod for me after I do everything else.

Glad your happy with the AEM intake.

Yeah, I'm trying to find somebody or a body shop to make a heat shield for the Takeda intake I have on my 11M37s
