Ok, i can't find a good source in archived or recent for this, but I was at Advanced Auto for a PCV valve the other day and got to talking about intakes... I have an Injen with the stock filter but it doesn't seem to be a K&N so i'm planning to throw a new filter on it soon(unless someone can confirm otherwise?) but the guy recommended going with AEM, which has a reusable but supposedly just as good filter as K&N, my first choice... wasn't sure if anyone has any arguments/counter arguments... I've checked AEM's site and it does seem like an interesting filter design but i don't know if it really is better than K&N, so if anyone has hard, any feedback would be apprciated thanks in advance!

K&N's are tried and true. I don't think you'll go wrong with either choice. Personally I like the apexi filters though, less maintainence.

Possibly the older kits had the k&n on them. I faintly recall seeing one in one of my buddies s14's with a k&n on it. Looks like they're using a low maintainence filter now.

that's my debate now... it looks good, just not sure if anyone's had any major issues or comparisons... i haven't heard much from it except from the guy at advanced auto, so just wanted some more feedback on it if possible... thanks

AEM used to use K&N, now they use the new design.

Yeah the one thing I don't like too much about the K&N's is the oiling of filters. It's another step and it's a pain in the butt to wait for the filter to dry out before oiling it. Go for the low maintainence stuff. The lazy side of you will love it.

In all honesty a filter is a filter. All they do is filter air... (insert smartass comment here) As long as it's a decent filter it doesn't matter. I run generic $25 cone filters on Injen CAI. K&N's do offer more HP thru better flow but not enough to matter. There is more HP to be tapped elsewhere.

ummmm, it IS enough to matter. along with other mod's an intake that will breathe will be even more effective
