Hey guys a couple days ago the problem started, It is really noticeable when i accelerate past 3000rpm, The spark plugs are overdue by a 3000km and the fuel filter and injectors have never been cleaned. I am in the process of making a spark plug socket since the only one available is by the dealer (i'm a dyi guy because of the many horror stories my friends and family have experienced by the dealer here) I have no experience cleaning the fuel filter and injectors and i would really appreciate if any of you guys who have done it or seen it done on a versa can advise me on both please!!I put my hand by the exhaust and felt that the car is misfiring a little bit even when idling, the car is not pinging and the CEL has not come on as yet its an HR16-DE engineHave any of you guys experienced this misfiring behavior?

The fuel filter is located with the pump inside the fuel tank. The Versa factory service manual (FSM) says it's a "maintenance free" item.

I usually run a bottle of injector cleaner through my system every few months to get any moisture out and clean the system a little. I don't know if that is something you can do with your Tiida. I only have 17,000 miles on my Versa so far.

I haven't experienced this condition (mis-firing).

Finally after four months of searching for the socket i found it in the smallest parts place in town. I changed the plugs this morning and carried the car for a test drive... WOW!! the misfiring condition is gone, the throttle response and power has been restored. I am still going to clean the fuel filter and injectors to make sure this misfiring behavior never comes backThanks Promise Land for the info about the filter i'm gonna take a look at the filter and see how bad it is i'm almost sure its very dirty.

The fuel filter is attached to the pump inside the tank. I think you can get to it from under the rear seat, but I've never checked. Just be delicate with everything. I've thrown my fuel gauge off in another vehicle by bumping the pump assembly and slightly beding the rod that controls the gauge needle.

If you have some time to shoot phots of the process, I'd love to add them to our tech site that comes out this year.

If you're going to access the fuel filter, I would replace it, not clean it. There's no mention of the fuel filter in the maintenance schedule even after 100,000 miles.

The socket is a 9/16" for the spark plugs, when i took apart the pump there was definately a filter inside there but it was sealed into the top section of the pump assembly, you can see it in the first picture ( the dark cylindrical section of the pump assembly) it doesnt look like it is a replaceble item but i took down the part no. its 17040 ED80A i dont know if this no. is for the whole pump or top section with the filter. I used compressed air and some carb spray to clean it to the best of my ability, can someone with resources look into this part no. and see what comes up??
