dkill,

In response to your questions, the best I can do is guess until I get the transmission back in.

At 10 psi I was approaching 475 HP a the flywheel with the old transmission (struggling) and the stock torque conveter. With the new transmission and billet torque converter, I don't expect the HP to increase, just the torque, which is what I am after anyway.

Torque is also difficult to ascertain as even my 275 pirelli's are breaking traction on the dyno.

Until I get the car put back together, back on the dyno and ultimatley on the track, I will only be guessing figures.

I will happy if I can acheive high 12's. We'll see.

Regards

AGM

dkill,

I might be able to shed some light on the XJR info as my first love is the Jag's as it is my parents fault for owning a couple of them while I was getting my pub's and the chicks just really did a Jag. I don't know exactly why, but a Jag almost always gets more attention compared to its competitors that are much more advanced. Anyway...here are the goods on the XJR...XKR

The compression is different between the NA versus supercharged engine. The NA has 11.6:1 compression while the SC has 9:1. Without the supercharger...the 9:1 engine is naturally less powerful. I had a friend who had the XK8 and wanted to add a SC to it. Straight forward...yes it can be done, but the engine is not designed to handle the additional pressure and will blow things up internally and externally. The NA Jags don't even come with an LSD rearend...Only the R models have the LSD rearend. This was also an issue as he was going to put 400hp to one wheel or he would need to swap out the rears. I don't know why Jag wouldn't use more of the same components between the two, but the rearends are different as well as the internals of the engines. My friend sold his xk8 and got a 2001 XKR and then had http://www.eurotekdesigns.com/scenes.htm designs modify it. There is only one Jag tunner in the US that really knows what they are doing...Eurotek and then you have Arden in Germany. For the Jag to be modified, you can't change the SC pulley as it is already about as small as it can get so you have to change the Underdrive pulley and this is expensive as it needs to be bigger. Eurotek is the only one who can do this without reliaibility issues as the underdrive wheel needs to be perfectly balanced or the whole thing will wobble apart. The underdrive pulley is $2,000 alone. Have your friend with the XJR visit http://www.roadfly.org and have him go to the XJR message boards. He needs to ask for a guy named "Monser"...this guy has tried all the other mod shops and he knows his stuff. He has gone will all Eurotek mods and his XJR is a beast...0-60 in the low 4's with qrt in mid 12's. He has the diff swaped, underdrive pulley, NOS, intake, ECU remapped and countless other things and the car really moves. There are a couple of others out there with similar mods and they make the R a a real beast. My friend with his 2001 XKR put on the underdrive pulley and ECU remap and we raced a new SL55...the AMG one and it was a dead heat race and I think he was actually pulling on him a bit...but traffic got in our way on 95 and we could not continue the race...we hit over 145mph...I about crapped my pants, but I loved everybit of it. Well I am sure that this is more than you had wanted...but the engines are different with compression, pistons, crank, etc. By the way....My friend lost control at the Homestead speedway during a driving school and basically totaled the car....yeeouch!!!! Insurance does not cover it either.

Also....becareful about posting on the jag site, some of those guys will eat you alive and have nothing postive to say, especially if you want to modify it into a more performance car and keep asking questions why will this not work and why will that not work. you all here(NICO) are much more helpful and positive which was a major part in deciding to keep my car versus getting a jag as I was about to sell my car and get a xkr or xjr a couple months ago but was dreading the payments and reliability issues. Now I can or will get my car moving and handling fast enough to hopefully hang with a stock XJR/xkr through the help of you all here. I would love to see the look on someones face as I am hanging with them in my Q45 and they are driving a XJR

Ahhh all sounds very good....

you are building a M5 killer and I am building a XJR killer...

No other jag shop can modify a jag except for Phil at Eurotek. All the others are just a waste of monies as many on the message boards tried the other shops and all said that Phil is the only one with the goods...kind of like the different ECU thingy...not all ECU mods are the same.

The depreciation on the Jag as you stated does certainly leave nothing to be desired. I was looking at a 2000 or 2001 XKR for around $40K and less, but after I put down $10K I would no longer have any monies for the mods and still be stuck with $600+ car payment. Sticking with the Q I can put the $10K into mods and not have a $600+ car payment and still drive a car that is very rare and one that will be very fast in the near future.

I am shooting for the setup that you stated....JWT ECU, LevelTen transmission, 4.08 rear, and maybe another TCU transmission and then to see where this gets me performance wise before moving to the big boy...that is the SuperCharger.

Well....I have got to go search for some tires tonights...I want to stick as wide as a wheel as I can on the rear (9.5 with 35mm offset??? hoping) without it looking stupid....trying to keep the class and the lines
