For those who have seen my car at various meets (or on pics for that matter):

I am thinking of losing the spoiler because:

-It adds weight-It attracts Cops

Everyone tells me, it looks sharp though....

What do you guys (and gals especially) think?

Fred...:)

PS: Pics are in the various KY-NICO meets threads and also clcik this link look for my car's pic and click on it:http://www.q45racing.com/q45/id3.htmlShould Fred's Q lose the spoiler?

Hey Fred,

You would be insane to take that off. That spoiler is SLEEK and STYLISH!!!! It is low profile enough that cops won't be attracted to it anymore than a stock one. Hope you keep it on.

gotta say, it's not that high profile to garner more of the unwanted police attention unless your driving style dictates that they do so, and it looks mighty fine IMHO

That spoiler shows taste and I like it's subtle appeal. Keep it! At least it matches color, instead of being a giant aluminum shopping cart handle

Fred, it's the triple digit speeds that attract the popo's attention, the spoiler has nothing to do with it. So keep it!

lol repo. Fred leave that thing on. as robbie said, it is one thing i love about your car. i dont think many cars could pull that off, having that spoiler i mean. it just goes perfect with you car. and hey, who cares if it adds a few pounds. you have a Q. its heavy already, so i doubt taking off that spoiler would help you go much faster. :)

LOL, do I always have to play the devils advocate!

If you had a kit all around, I'd tell you to keep the spoiler. I think cars (easpecially touring cars) look so much cleaner without spoilers (take a look at my ride).

And those Q's in that link you posted look bad ***, especially the first one and the 1st radical Q. One min looks like a BMW, then a benzo, but its an infinity!

choice is yours, I say lose it, btu I haven't seen your car in person.

Fred, I hate to tell ya....but I think your car would look better if you yanked that spoiler. Q's look better without spoilers. I had the factory spoiler on mine and liked it...for awhile.

I think the best cosmetic mod to a Q would be a front bumper like some of those japanese cars. Your car looks great as it is, but losing the spoiler would make it look cleaner, less-cluttered.

I have to agree w/ pimpin' - the spoiler cuts the clean lines and detracts from the beauty and form. Doesn't flow well. keep it if you are going to add some rad kits

Yah id take the spoiler off and place a factory "t" spoiler on there , its just a bit loud but it isnt bad , it could stay or go ...

Rims ,Tinted windows, cleanlieness, and spoilers all attract attention ....Its signs that the driver enjoys cars and is a little more of a enthusiast than joe schmuck in the 89 tempo in the other lane ..

So either way it still stands out , if you keep it there then you wont have to worry about crudy holes in your trunk lid .....A kinda almost loud but likeable spoiler is beatter than cosmetic flaws like scratches dents dings and holes .....

Keep the spoiler we they call it "Bosozoku" style in Japan, or "Yankee" Usually Japanese Guys and girls that like to dye there hair blonde and drive around reving their mufflers late at night. The girls are usually pretty sexy though. Unfortunately the girls are not that smart though. It looks good though. If I saw it in the states I would wish I was back in Japan.

Id say lose it too. My opinion is that its a big luxury car not a sports car or GT racer, so why try to make look that way? When I first joined, under my name it said "driving moms car". A luxury car with a wing like that kinda looks the part of "driving moms car" that the kid wanted to supe up. Without the wing the car has some really clean lines. Id say go for something a litle more subtle.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY like the Stillen wing for the 1st-gen Q's. Anyone know what they cost? It'd be a nice replacement for my 't' spoiler.

:withstup(no offense, I just love that smiley) Dude, like I said, that spoiler looks good on you car. It matches the paint and flows with the design. The spoiler is a tasteful piece and removing it wouldn't be worth the trouble anyway.

I really like the wheels and tint you've got on the car. I dont care too much for the spoiler though.

What type and % of tint do you have? I would like to do that to my q45.

You're gonna have to do something with the holes and blending the unoxidized paint if you remove it, so it's not going to be cheap to remove it. My opinion: Understated = classy. Looks better without it to me.

yes I would fix the holes and pay$$ for it to do it right.the spoiler is currently going into/thru t model (very undertstated) spoiler .On closer examination it looks well attached.

Thank you for all your replies PPL.

Looks like the spoiler stays.

Fred....:)

Good! I think you should keep it, although if it were MINE, I would go for the factory "t" spoiler. But since it is YOURS, then leave it there. It makes it look meaner for sure.

Good call Fred. Yes, the car is a "luxury auto", but with the rims and the V8 with upgrades, I think it goes well with the style.
