Looking into buying an '05 G35x as a year-round DD, including NJ/NY winters. I am thinking of buying one still under the factory warranty and later getting an extended/aftermarket warranty.

All 05 models below 60K miles will still be under the 4yr/60K factory warranty, right? Or do I need to separately verify this (thru an Infiniti dealer)?

What else do I need to look for or be careful about after finding a G still covered by the factory warranty?

I did a prelim search on cars.com and autotrader and found some 05s below or around 50K for $15,500 to $15,999. Can I get them into the mid to low 14s? I know inventory is moving very slow with the credit situation, but I also want to get a deal done without wasting a ton of time going from dealer to dealer to dealer.

Any other thoughts/advice? I found the Nico forums very helpful when I bought a maxima for my little brother 6 months ago - looking forward to joining the G35 club.

Provided that the car is under 4 years old and under 60,000 miles, the car should be covered under the original factory warranty. Some cars that are Infiniti pre-owned certified are covered up to 100,000 miles and 7 years (correct me if i am wrong on that).

Shop around on the cars, but don't be afraid to haggle with a dealer that you want to go to (aka one that has a car you want). Most dealers are dying for business right now, and would love to make any sale that is cash positive for them. Most used cars are marked up a lot, so you should be able to knock 1k off what the dealer wants.

60,000 MILES or 48 MONTHS AND POWERTRAIN WARRANTY 70,000 MILES OR 72 MONTHS.

be careful, the window actuators break. its all about negotiation. ill give you my example. i own a 2004 coupe, 18s, bose, aero kit. the dealer wanted 29,995 at the lot and 26,995 online. i low balled at 22,500 i sealed it for 24,000 with dealer fee included. that said it was 19 months ago, so you should be able to get a good deal in this state of economy. i would offer them 13,000 to start. you can always go up, but you can never go down.

Another ref point for you...I paid $26k for the exact one I wanted. I got a 2005 black on black (always seemed to be a bit more) and it is loaded to the Nav. It also had only ~22k miles last December when I bought it and 24mos. left on the warranty. After my 4% tax rate (love unincorporated cities) I walked out around $27,3k I believe it was.

This was a personal sale too-always changes things a bit. Good luck shopping and do share once purchased!

You should be close to around 15k for one... I paid 22600 for my 06 and that was in 07.

The deals are out there... just keep looking for them!

Did you go there in person and negotiate, or did you start on the phone? I guess I'm trying to figure out how seriously one can be taken if negotiating on the phone (without having seen/testdriven the car)....

Welcome to NICO

Here is my $.02

This was taken this morning

In 2 years 10 months and 70,000 miles I had two tire pressure monitor sensors and one driver side air bag control module all replaced under the factory warranty.

My 06 G35 is the best vehicle I have ever owned and has been trouble free.I'm not sure if anyone here has had a trouble free experience with earlier years? It is for these reasons that I would advise you to wait until you can afford a new one.

BTW, I am still on my original brakes. You will not get that kind of mileage with a G35X. Get the 6 speed manual. If you need lessons you can come to NJ.

Gas dropped again after I filled up this morning & is now $2.75

Good luck whatever you decide

$2.75? Is that for 91? I just paid $3.35 or something close for my 91 at Shell...maybe it really is time to stop paying the Oil companies a subsidy here in CO!

My wife got 21 in city driving in my 07X. Also I've seen 26-27 mpg with the X. It is how you drive it.

How much would you pay for this one?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...75959

06 G35x w/ 26K miles.

2nd owner - he sent me the carfax from when he bought the car in April (seems to have had a clean carfax til then - can run again if seriously looking at it, but let's assume for now its record is wholly clean).

Interior + exterior both claimed to be pristine. Almost fully loaded - Bose, sunroof, Bluetooth, etc.

What do you think?

Does that seem unusually low to anyone else? Sorry I tend to be skeptical for purchases of this size but if you have been able to look it over and maybe even drive it, then it may be as good of a deal as it seems.

I paid $26k for one fully loaded with nav (black on black) a year ago. Was 2005 but had a few less miles on it at the time (21k).

The price or the miles? The Buy It Now (BIN) price of $20K is fair and not unusually low, considering dealer asking prices for low-mileage 06s have now started in the $18s...

Seller is trading up to a larger car. I figure I basically need to offer something at or slightly above the dealer trade-in, taking into account the sales tax advantage of trading (think PA is 6% sales tax).

To add some perspective, I had a friend of mine run the Manheim inter-dealer auction prices on 06 G35Xs below 50K miles:

For Oct, the average auction price was $16,930 (avg miles 25.8K), but prices had fallen by the last reported auction date (10/23): $16,610 average price (23.7K avg miles)

Why would you say that?

If the car has clean title, carfax..., why not get a good deal?

I paid 22k for mine over a year and 3 months ago.

I got a really good deal plus the guy was going out of the country!

I wrote him a check and we were done with it!

OH and the warranty is from date of purchase not from model year.

My 05 has warranty until july of 2009 and then I also have the 6 yr 70k extended warranty.

so you need to verify with the dealership.

You have an 05 or 06? Your profile suggests 06 and you say 05 here...got me pretty darn confused!

Agree with Tampa though-probably worth checking it out and intending to purchase unless you find something obviously flawed with it. Only thing I see on it I don't like is the wood but hey, to each their own and I doubt I could let some wood on the inside force me to pass up a good deal. I wonder how much car sales are going to be affected by the nose-diving economy?

Let us know...
