i need pros and cons for putting a CAI on my new 07 maxima 3.5SL .... my dad wont let me install it because he says that it increases wear and tear on the engine. ... any pros and cons will be much appreciated!!!

There's really nothing negative to fear with a CAI. Worst case scenario is if you get one that mounts the filter very low and then drive through a deep puddle you could suck water into the engine (which means the end of the engine).

As for pros, there's the basics:More power and better throttle responseBetter fuel milage

going with what Doom said

ProsExtends engine life since cold air is being received instead of the warm engine bay air

conscan suck up water but measures are taken for that bypass valve some are crappy one does work saved my boys engine 2 tiems so yeah either way other than this a cai wont harm the engine any other way

Engine air intake temperature shouldn't do a damned thing to affect the engine life. At least I hope not.
