Hey everyone, I have just build my 240sx with a redtop, and now it is onto the suspension. I was wondering if anyone here has run the KYB AGX Shock and Struts with the tein S Springs? If so did you like the feel? And I am also considering the eibach pro kit. Those are suppose to have a great feel to them also.

Thanks

i had tein s techs for daily driving for 3 years...there too stiff and dont drop enough..I then switched to Tanabe df210's they dropped way more and rode way smoother.. really like 10 times smoother.. Both of these springs were mounted on the Blue Tokico struts...I forget the model...Tanabe's pretty much got rid of my wheel gap..close enough.. o yea, on a s14.

springs are good to consider when choosing ride quality but good shock dampering is much more important. When I had AGX i went with RSR race spring..it was ok, not too rough not to soft. I hate AGX so much afterward but they're cheap to learn on.

^^^ what he said, the dampers are way more important when it comes to comfort and overall quality

if your thinking of keeping spring/struts and not going coilovers, go with koni shocks and RSRs or Ground control springs

you wont be sorry

Not to threadjack, but, what is the lowest I would be able to go with a set of springs. I guess you cant really get a slammed look with springs right.

this is me w koni's and RSR's

its not slammed but its a nice subtle drop

idk if it will sit a bit higher once i swap out the ka or not, but if you get GC sleeves they are height adjustible, so they are basically coils w some assembly required

I had tokico illuminas with eibach springs on the rear of my FD for a couple of months. The Tokico's seemed way to soft even at the stiffest setting. I don't know the condition of the shocks because they were not mine, just borrowed until my coilovers got rebuilt.

I have made my decision to go with the rsr spring, but still trying to decide on what shock and strut. Anymore reviews on Tokico, KYB AGX's, Koni's, etc, would be great, thanks

I have Tein S Techs on KYB AGXs on my S13. I feel the Teins are way too soft and they didn't drop my car that much, probably an inch to about an inch and a quarter. The AGXs are adjustable, they are very comfortable on the street, and when set to the stiffest setting they are pretty stiff, even with the soft Teins. I had Skunk2s on my first S13 on stock struts and the Skunk2s slammed my S13. They lowered the car about 2 to 2 and half inches, but they were very stiff, to the point of being uncomfortable for daily driving. Overall I am very happy with my current set up, it's comfortable for daily driving and the AGXs can be adjusted for when I autox. I only wish the Teins would have lowered the car a little bit more, but hey what can you do.

Pics are kinda dark, hope you can see the wheel gaps.

Hope this helps

Metaru, dtowndrifter claims Agx and Tein combo are too stiff, yet you say they are too soft. I guess everyone has their own opinion on ride quality plus he probably just dd on them thats why he claims they're too hard.

BTW: Metaru-Gia thats is a nice drop on those Teins.

Is there any reason you are restricting yourself to strut/spring setups?

(see my sig for my setups. I hate them both.)

thanks guys I appreciate it all, and the reason I am choosing to go with a shock/strut and spring setup is because I want more of a quick adjustable with the dampening instead of the coilover setup. I really like the thought of just a fast adjustment for my ride control.

Thanks guys

Um... ok. Can't do that with coils...

Just curious. I hope you enjoy your selection and never view it as money wasted!

i think it would be harder to adjust it on coils if you slam it

keep in mind for the rears w koni's you gotta take the assemblies out

its not an on the fly adjustment fronts are easy thou

exactly and I have been looking at that too, but with certain other brands it is easier on the rear than the koni.

i think ground controls and koni yellows are the way to go if you can afford it , they're better than a lot of coilover setups
